How do you feel about Tyra Banks and her company now?
Would you consider supporting TypeF if they do any major improvements?
Whats your opinion about the whole situation?

I don't like Tyra Banks, so I don't support anything she does. She has never struck me as the sort of woman that does good things genuinely.

Type-F would need Jesus, Mary and the Holy Spirit to get me to change my mind about their video fiasco. They are exactly the reason why I style my own hair and stick with what works.

The whole situation is upsetting. I am so proud to see natural-haired sistas' out and about daily, rocking their hair in cute styles, looking fierce. That lady made a mockery of everything natural women stand for. She had poor hair care practices, seemed delusional and the worst part about it is some poor woman finally taking her hair care into her hands might have followed that bullcrap regimen! Others may have followed her regimen and given up on the natural journey because they had adverse results. People just don't understand the power of ONE. Being natural is a big step to take living in a world where relaxers are the preferred form of hair straightening for black women.

If Tyra had spent more time not sewing cheap strips on her cheap polyester blend outfits she could have taken the time to find a lady from LHCF, or Curly Nikki, or someone reputable with helpful tips. I would punch Tyra in her big head for that mess. It's obvious she has hair issues wearing that wet dog wig all the time.

I didn't like her ever since she gave that sweet lil white girl a wack job on her hair and so many people have come out and admitted that tyra made the show out to be something it wasn't. She's just always seemed "fake" to me BUT typef just did it. I know it wasn't all under her control and the other tips outside of hair weren't bad BUT if you're endorsing something BE PROFESSIONAL and ATTENTIVE.
Also seriously... TypeF??? Why not truetype - being the true you or Antitype step out of the box etc etc lol.

Anywho self proclaimed tyra not liker I guess *kanye shrug*

She seems fake to me and this just sealed it. What did it for me was when she was whining about Naomi bullying her, and how she was teased for being a bully... Ten turns around and said she was a bully in high school. Ok Tyra, which lie is it?

I thought I was the only one who noticed she was always quick to chop off a girls long natural hair, and then two weeks later slap on some weave for the weeks pics :perplexed:

Her talk show was horrendous. She would always try to act "real" and sympathetic but I found her to be judgemental and fake.

So no, Tyra gets no support from me.

I wish I could've voted two options: Hayel no and I don't care....but those blue rollers were hilarious. And the award for best comedy goes to.....

I've voted that I don't care. I really have no reason to support them as there are otheer youtubers way ahead of their game.

No. I'm not natural but I would sooner bury Type F in the enormity of the net than pass on that link to someone.

And you know? Because there was NO reason for it to have been that way.

Tyra has the money and means to KNOW better, to contact well informed and enthusiastic professional hair care expert ( not necessarily from the online hair community, no offense to anyone), to ensure the product was intelligent and informative.

Instead she chose to put out that crap, and I don't want to hear how she didn't know because if it was her name on a video endorsing eating babies Type F would have been pulled off the net so fast even Google wouldn't know what you're talking about.

She just did not care, and I find that attitude insulting. I actually liked her before this ( never watched that dreadful talkshow) but I'd never support another venture of her's after Type F and I don't know whether to sympathize or suspect any natural hair lady willing to jump into that quagmire of a brand now.

I never supported her before in the past and won't in the future.:nono: The F stood for foolishness. When I saw her show on how she was supposed to show her real hair, I thought maybe she'd change. Now I know she is about nothing positive.

I don't know of any specific incident but someone on the forum posted about a new channel for black women and I went straight over to youtube. Within days my subscription page was flooded with useless, crappy videos. I unsubscribed within a week.

Lost respect for her as a business woman. Those videos were really awful, like a bad joke. If she helped create them she obviously did no research. And if she just added her name to the project without viewing them, shes a fool. Both scenarios are a very dumb move for a business woman. No matter what I think about her personally, I always thought she was smart about her hustle. No more. And I'm lightweight offended woman were expected to use those videos as resources.

I never really felt any particular way about Tyra. Top Model was entertaining for a few years; not must see tv, her talk show; whatever. Type F didn't change my opinion about Tyra because she wasn't on my mind anyway. She probably did what any brand does, lease their name out to something, had someone representing her have a meeting with Type F and they probably explained what will be on the site and who the "expert" will be and then they probably briefed Tyra on the info and she signed off on it. I don't think there was some grand conspiracy for Tyra to ruin the natural movement, LOL, but I can see why the women who hated her from jump would want to believe that.

I voted for the "blue rollers" because this was just a blip on the internet. The blue rollers are now an internet meme for clueless naturals! It would have gone unnoticed (I am sure) without the talk on this forum. I am grateful for this whole fiasco because it proved that we have power in numbers and that we can AND DO have an influence over how the natural community is represented. There is no denying that.

I am embarrassed to admit this but that those two rollers holding on for dear life made me an avid fan, in fact I had not heard of her channel before natural-hairgate and what I found was a cornucopia of pure comedy goldmine. I do understand that some poor unsuspecting person out there may have been duped into implementing less than perfect hair care practices based on Tyra's celebrity status, however, the public outcry that she received about her natural hair butcher she is trying to back peddle to remedy the situation after the damage has already been done.

I voted I don't care, but those blue rollers were hilarious.

She was never a blip on my radar to begin with. I do agree that those videos were ridiculous, hilarious but ridiculous. The only time I ever thought about Tyra was while watching ANTM, I never watched her talk show (is it even still on)?

no i won't be watching.
I hated her talk show, And now she got me hating this too.
I'm getting to the point where i see a pattern. If she's not giving modeling tips, she's a FAIL.
If i wanna see funny, there are plenty of ways for me to laugh without sitting and subscribing to this mess

I like Tyra. She seems to be a good person who means well, but she unfortunately comes off crazy. Same thing goes for her channel.
It was a good idea with all the best intentions, but unfortunately, it came off crazy because all the suggestions were bad.

I don't understand people getting high blood pressure over it though. It's not that serious.

I recall watching a Tyra episode where Halle Berry was on and Tyra says to her, Halle, you can actually have long hair if you want.......I'm looking at the tv screen like, I guess Halle's white side allows her to have long hair while a "full blooded" Negroid such as myself is doomed to short hair, huh? Tyra seemed like an airhead to me and those Type F videos sealed my opinion of her.

I would never let Tyra cut my hair. She looks a bit rough and she looks at the camera at one point like, "oh crap, what am I doing?"

You know I wonder if Tyra has bought into the negative parts of modeling when it comes to blacks? I know the modeling business can be unforgiving and they call it "being honest" but I wonder if those modeling agents who tell models they are too fat or too whatever also tell them, "girl your hair won't grow because you are black," or your nose is too big or you look too black.

That TypeF(ake) situation was a badly executed. I mean, Tyra doesn't watch Youtube?

I dunno about Tyra. The way she acts most of the time like she has to please whomever is filling that bank account. Yea, it's nice she wants to empower colored women to achieve great things. But at least act like you genuinely care or at least research for yourself (yea I know, that's what scriptwriters are for...lol).

Bottom line, she's spoon fed a lot of BS, and she turns around and spew it to her followers like someone of us won't think about what's being said. That's the most insulting part. She needs to be more proactive about protecting her (brand) name and what she wants achieve. She's doing and pleasing too many people who don't have her or her persona in mind.

ROFLMAO @ the bolded that's my laugh for today, what color? Red, blue, purple, or orange?
Anywho you're right I really think she needs to protect her name much better.
