Should I get my hair twisted like this?

I had my hair done like this in the beginning of my hair journey, but now I'm thinking about how I would keep it moisturized. I don't want to take it down to find my hair dry and brittle.

So, should I get this style? What is the maximum amount of time I should keep it in? How would you suggest I moisturize my hair? I'm thinking S-Curl.

The photo is similar to the hair do in my hair book. The only difference is it is criss cross twisted in the back.

Wish i could see the front but it definitely looks gorgeous from the back. I'd say leave it in for 2 weeks if it lasts.

This is the only photo I could find online. Before my HHJ, I would leave it in for a month or more. It is pretty much gelled up and becomes hard. Moisturizing the roots is no problem, but get moisturize to the hair seems like it would be an issue.

I didn't realize that it's gelled up and gets hard. Does it start getting all dried out and rough looking?

I don't see how you would be able to get moisture to all parts of your hair. Maybe a mist/spray would work but even still with it be twisted up like that you likely won't have access to everything. i wouldn't leave this up for more than a couple of weeks based on that.

Its a cute style. If you are having it done with just your hair, you should be okay keeping it moisturized with just a spray mist. S curl or any of the mist sprays should work just fine.

I have found that my twisted up styles maintain moisture much better and easier than any other style. The moisture seeps in and sort of stays in over time.

The thing is if repeated misting will allow you to maintain the neatness of the style over a long period of time.

Here are some more photos. These are actually pics of the actual hair do I took from my hair magazine.

The side profile shot makes the shape look a little off to me. Something about just the top bunnish part. Other than that it's pretty. I still don't see how you'd be able to get all up in there and moisturize without messing up the style. Is this an expensive style to have done on your hair?

Last time I got it done which was a few years ago, it was $70.
