Im trying to find somewhere to buy it and add it to my DC’s
snowdriftfarm.com is out of stock.
Does anyone know anywhere else?

I've purchased Lactic Acid (for skin) from Garden of Wisdom at 88%.

Can you really use it in your hair? What percentage? I use it diluted to 40% for skin peals and can only leave it on for 1-2 minutes - I can't imagine using it in hair.

I was thinking about adding a little bit of liquid lactic acid to my Dc to loosen my curls…I got it from that 'yogurt to loosen your hair texture’ thread

what percent of lactic acid is in yogurt as compared to the ones that get sold comercially? I would be terrified to do that. I have the 88% LA from lotioncrafter that i mixed into my water based body lotion and after i use it on my body i wash my hands thoroughly before i touch my hair. I think you'd better stick to Yoplait

Before you do, consider that you might end up on here CRYING.:look:

I use 40% lactic peel on my face and it burns so I could only imagine added lactic acid on hair products. I know some hair products have lactic acid but I assume its in small quanity.

Its out of stock for a reason. Dont do it, stick to softeners, relaxers, texturizers, bkt, henna, yogurt, and breast milk. No lactic acid.

Wow, I just got my first one done professionally and It didn't burn at all but once I put that yogurt on 3 days later it did tingle, Yet my face felt so Good and clean. :)

I plan to do it once a week with the yogurt and once a month professionally. As mY POCKETS are flat LOL

PLEASE no!! LAWD Noooo!!!! *shakes bible*
Gurl, this stuff peels the dead skin off of my body in sheets when I add it to my lotion and I use it for faical peels. Your hair will do the same. Stick with the dc found in the dairy section for lands sake!

*lol* Thanks ALOT Ladies ...I'll just stick to yogurt instead...seriously though, MUCH Thanks!!! :rosebud::Rose::fairy:

I would have been ***'*

Is lactic acid really that bad for hair? Several of Hairveda's products have it as an ingredient, especially one of my favs the Strinillah DC.

This is what Tightly Curly says:

Lactic acid (aka AHA)
Okay
Lactic acid is used in hair care products mainly to adjust the pH, but may also be used as a humectant.

Lactic acid occurs in sour milk through fermenting lactose, but it's also prepared commercially. Since it is considered safe (in small doses), it is often used to adjust the pH in products. Since it also somewhat increases the moisture content in hair in small amounts, this is an added benefit to including it. In high enough concentrations, it can harm your hair, but in the small concentrations usually used in hair products (it usually appears at the bottom of the ingredients list, meaning there isn't much of it in there), it's fine [Hunting (Conditioning) pg 258].

Sounds like it is just an adjuster.

For those adding it to their body lotions what percentages or ounces are you guys doing? That sounds like just the thing I've been looking for.

Acid is still acid, I remember some folks were going gungho with citric acid and other stuff...but it's still acid! One slip up and you're screwed.

Hell panthenol can be caustic if you use too much and for too long. If I want to play mixtress I stick to simple things unless I really know what I'm doing.

if you go to www.skincaretalk.com in their DIY section they have tons of recipes for making your own exfoliating lotion by adding the LA to your favorite lotion. The best price I've found is from Lotion Crafters. they sell a 88% solution so you can dilute that with your lotion or plain water. http://www.lotioncrafter.com/lactic-acid-88.html My husband wont stop chasing me around the house my skin is transforming:lachen:.

Msmchy Would you mind sharing your exfoliation lotion recipe with me? And how often you use it? I went over to skincaretalk and there's just so much information...I want to smooth out my skin and possibly even out the tone. Thanks!

Lol, it worked!
I got my recipe from www.skincaretalk.com. It's a DIY lactic acid lotion and the recipe is approximately 15% lactic acid and 85% lotion, so for 8 oz total, you need 6.8 oz lotion and 1.2 oz lactic acid. That might be too strong for sensitive skin so I suggest you start with however much you feel comfortable with and build from there.

A 10% solution is .8oz of lactic acid and 7.2oz of lotion. I used this once every couple of days at first. I used Eucerin lotion and St.Ives Collagen Elastin lotion. Shake it up each time before you use it because it tends to separate and get watery. If you want to add perservatives you can. germall is good and is sold and most cosmetic making websites, but I never needed to.

After a day or so, I would soak in a hot tub with essential oils or water and scrub off the dead skin cells with a microfiber cloth.

Thank you for sharing! I'm new around here...so :look: just learning how to work this stuff LOL

I lubs you guys man.

I was about to order 88% Lactic Acid from LotionCrafter, and I had to add all this extra stuff to make my order up to the minimum, it got kind of out of control, I just got paid :look: ... so I decided right before entering my payment information to check on here for more information on using the stuff (I intend to make a 12% lotion) and thanks to greenandchic I just ordered my 2oz of 88% for less than 10 bucks, shipping included. I was bout to spend 10x that on LotionCrafter
