I have been complaining about not seeing results from taking the (expensive) Nioxin vitamins. But tonight, during my wash, my hair had a surprise for me. It was VISIBLY and by touch, thicker & heavier than its ever been. I was shocked.

How has your hair surprised you lately?

I am definitely seeing thickness and heaviness as I keep trucking on with my transition. I'm not complaining at all!! Oh, and it definitely likes a simple reggie.

My hair stretched is touching hip length. I haven't been checking and I wasn't really expecting it until maybe the end of September.

Nioxin is for real, I said in another thread that I can't even get my fingers (let alone a comb) through my new growth (5 wks post).

But I've been trying to find a stressfree PS, and came across the southern tease bun. I couldn't believe how sexy it looked on me  . I really wanted to be able to lose the elastic bands I used to bun, and this lets me do that. So happy.

I am completely surprised at this halo of 3 inch long hairs on my head. My hair is thickening up at the scalp and the thickness is making its way down to the ends of my hair. My braid is looking phat! I'm living for the day when I have a big, ol' bun.

I am scraping APL.....

Get off the bus!....I didnt think i would be that close until December. I'm looking forward to BSL and maybe even MBL next year:yep::pulpdance:

My latest surprise was the almost 2 inches I got in 6 weeks from using Tiiva's Hair Growth lotion. I knew it had grown, but I didn't think it would be that much!!

-Playing in my loose natural hair the other day, realized I had enough hair to make a nice cute puff if I wanted
-The back of my hair is almost APL; didn't think itd be this close now since I feel like my growth had slowed down and didn't get my usual summer growth spurt
-I have enough hair to twist and pull back and look decent; wasn't expecting to be able to do that til the end of this year or next year
-most of my hair curls up on the ends and my twists looks like how kinky twist extensions look, I didn't think my hair could do that (4b)

I'm seriously considering using heat after cutting it out all together about 3 months ago. My hair is naturally spirally and tangly and thin and i don't think i'm retaining as much as i should be whilst airdrying as i'm having to manipulate too much to restyle.

I had so much damage with blowdrying with a comb attachment and using irons that i'm scared to go back.
The tension method doesn't work on my hairtype as it just locks in the curls, instead of straightening them.

Any advice?

Congratulations NJoy!

When stretched like you, I reach waist length. I wasn't expecting to get there until early next year.

Well, this is not really recent but...my relaxed hair was dense but really fine (my blowouts needed a round brush otherwise it was pitiful)...Now that i've bc'd, i was very surprised to have thick-ish hair! Lubs it :)

I was able to wash my hair with twists in it and still look decent! Now I can protective style hardcore without going nuts! I don't have to re twist daily, anymore.

When i took down my lat set of twists...which had been in for 3 weeks, rinsed/conditioned multiple times and shampooed once, i was surprised to find that takedown and detangling was so easy. I even finger detangled (w/ a little conditioner)...no comb used at all! Even the parts that were a little more tangly loosened up pretty easily with not too much extra effort. Twist takedown and detangling is usually such nightmare for me, especially if theyve been in for a while and washed/rinsed so many times.

I cut my hair to just below my jaw in Oct. I haven't used heat the entire summer and I am now all natural APL!!

Well, it's kind of not a big deal. But yesterday I was cowashing and I had the conditioner in my hair for a while and I was surprised by how heavy my hair felt. Normally it doesn't feel like I have hair on my head because it's so airy.

Try rollersetting. You may have to practice a few times to get it right, but with the right set, you can get it mostly straight. My next effort will be to learn how to wrap my hair with oil and clingwrap after rollersetting to get straight hair.

In July I learned I could (barely lol) pull a section of the back of my hair down from behind my back

I was shaking so bad DH could barely take the pic! I couldn't believe my hair had gotten that long.....when I first joined the board, I used to think you gals who could do that were gymnasts

OMG, I got a Hair Surprise yesterday. I've been on Hairfinity for 10 days (to help me recover from my setback quicker) and yesterday was a Wash day. My hair felt longer and slightly thicker before I washed it but I thought there was no way it could've worked that quick. Turns out it did and my hair noticeably longer!!!:yep: Both my mom and sister noticed it and are going to order some HF.

I did a roller set Friday night and I normally use my green rollers because my hair really doesn't hold a curl long. I noticed for the first time that I was wrapping my hair around the roller multiple times as my hair has grown. Its time to go up a roller size to the red rollers.

well, it doesn't pertain to the hair on my head, but here is my little surprise from this morning:

I just bought some MSM supplements 3 days ago, and I wasn't really expecting any big change for at least a few weeks. I wanted not only my hair to grow faster, but also for my eyebrows to grow in thicker (my eyebrows are kind of sparse in some spots :( ) Wellllll, today as I was getting dressed, I leaned in close to the mirror to fill in the sparse spots with my eyebrow pencil and I was shocked! I didn't have to fill in nearly as much today, and my left brow especially was thicker! I reeeally wasn't expecting anything so soon! And I've only been taking one a day (the bottle says one 2 or 3 times a day, I'm working my way up) I felt like I was imagining it! Has anybody else had such quick results from taking MSM?

great thread btw! All of these posts are making me smile :)

mzteaze this afternoon i think i cracked it! I used the tension method but dried my hair to about 90%. I re-moisturised, sealed and put into big braids. I took off my scarf a little while ago and my hair was very smooth and soft. Yeah - i have a Surprise.
