My hair is not feeling right and I am trying to find out what is wrong fast before I have a set back. the only thing that I have changed with my hair regi is that I started using henna more in one month when I use to only do it once a month and I was fine. I also have this new conditioner that I found at dollar tree called tr salon which is suppose to be like tresseme and her are the ingreditents.

Ingreditents:
water; cetearyl alcohol; cetrimonioun chloride; fragrance; peg-40 hydrogenated castor oil; saccharum; officianrum sugarcane extract; trifolium pratense clover flowe extract; honey extract; panthenol; tocopheryl acetate vitamin e; citric acid; methychloroisothiazolinone methylisothiazlinone

Please tell me if any of this can be a problem for me my hair does not like protien so I don't have any in my regi except maybe every other month I may use a protien conditioner.

Please list names of clarifying shampoos

First, breathe. You don't want to deal with your hair when you're stressed. You may do something drastic on a whim, then regret it.

All you've said is that your hair isn't feeling right. Does it feel rough? Limp? Dry? Hard? How would you describe it?

If your hair doesn't like protein, it may not like the extra henna. Did you deep condition after you rinsed out the henna? I'm headed to bed now, but hopefully others will chime in with more help.

Henna can be very drying and even lead to breakage according to some lhcf members who have had setbacks b/c of it. I'm just not that familiar with it otherwise (as long as I've been around). I believe Ms Lala had a setback a few months ago on her waistlength hair. She did a thread and members helped her recover pretty quickly. Check out her threads started.

Oh, and by the way, the fact that your new product has fragrance so high on the list can't be good. It sounds like drying ingredients. Since you are in an emergency situation, I suggest using something au natural w/cleansing and moisturizing properties: try an oil rinse w/castor oil.

I always rinse with conditioner and I use deep conditioner for last. it feels hard and a little rough.

that is funny because the end of july all the way until like near the very middle of august I was doing nothing but castor oil rinse every day. until my scalp started getting tender and I had to wash with shampoo. it was so soft. I am going to do a rain wash and see what happens

What is a rain wash, that sounds refreshing

thanks for the link... you know that conditioner is suppose to be for dry or damage hair. why would they use something that would cause more drying?

ok I am going to the store later after the dr appt what deep conditioner can I buy in the store? I am use to ordering everything online but I need something right now because the only deep conditioner I have here is mixed chicks.

How many times have you washed your hair since hennaing? I find that sometimes I think I have co-washed and deep conditioned all of the henna out of my hair...then I style my hair for the next day and its hard and dry. That's an indicator to me that I haven't completely co-washed all of the henna out. Then if I co wash again after that I will still see the water becoming a tinted green or brownish color (ew...lol). This tells me that all of the henna was in fact not rinsed out of my hair. I don't know if that might be the case for you though...

I would advise against clarifying (if thats what a rain wash is). My second attempt with cassia sounds like what you are going through. It was a tangled, matted, stiff mess. I solved it by slapping some shea butter in my hair, lots of it, and baggying with it overnight. It was a serious moisture infusion.

I doubt that cheapie conditioners have what it takes to balance out increased use of henna. Try something like Matrix Ultra conditioning balm or Mizani Intense Moisture.

OMG come to think of it one of those time I use cassia for the first time. I didn't like it on my hair at all. it didn't do the same thing as the henna does for my hair. I have been using henna for yrs but for some reason I decided to do it every 2 weeks and I think that is my problem. I was only doing it once a month for 2 yrs since I started back because I wanted to enjoy my grey for a while. I have not had a problem until now.

my hair can not stand vo5 and all those other conditioners I use mixed chicks deep conditoner to wash it out most of the time because I don't have any other here until I got the tr salon from the dollar store. I will write those down so I can get it today.

I agree w/ LaidBack with using Mizani or something that can really infuse moisture into your hair. I recently tried "It's a Miracle Moisture Mask" along with "It's a Miracle Leave-In Conditioner" and I can't say enough about it - LUV IT! It's somewhat costly but it's a great investment that will ALWAYS be part of my staple.

I did the Henna thing one time and determined that it wasn't for me, it took too much work to get my hair soft or at least somewhat pliable so that I could work with it and with my hectic schedule I don't have time to fight with my hair and that's what I felt like I was doing when I used it and I decided then that everything isn't for everybody.

If I were you, I wouldn't clarify or do anything that would cause the hair to be stripped of it's moisture. Listen to your hair it knows what it wants.

well I didn't see her response before I used the rainwash and I used the gentle clarifying shampoo by creme of natural the one with green writing and yellow top. that was all I had in the house and then I put castor oil on it and plait it up I am getting ready to leave out and pick up that conditioner so I can do the treatment. I have not checked it since I tied it up it looks nice but I have not taken it out to see if it is still wirey or hard.

If you find the henna too drying, after you rinse(out the henna) before you apply DC do an oil rinse.

or add about a tbsp of oil to your henna paste.

or cut the henna out of your regimen if its not working for you

What type of henna are you using? Type may make a difference too. For me it did. When I first henna'd I used a brand I got from an indian grocer, it was BAQ henna. But it was sooo drying, and sooo hard to rinse out. I didn't realize this was the cause of my dryness. I switched to Jamila henna, and no probs with dryness, and rinses much easier.

A good cheapie to try, if you haven't, is HE Hello Hydration if you continue to use henna. Use a lot! Really gets henna out, and makes are soft, and of course, still DC.

my problem really is not with henna itself. what I think happen now is that cassia and me doing the henna too much in one month. I was not have any problem before doing too much in one month.

right now I am sitting with marrocon oil moisture intense conditioner they didn't have the mizani and omg that stuff is expensive but I can tell because I only need a dime amount for my whole head. and it smell so good.

oh this is the henna I use but it is usually 3.4 which they must be out of.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to thank you ladies so much. I put that morrocan oil intense in my hair and my hair is BACK I MEAN BACK BABY!!!! oh it was worth every penny.

I'm glad it worked!

thank you so much for the names it put me in the right ball park because of me always shopping online I don't know anything about those lines and they were in a area I never look in. because they keep all the exspensive products together near the register lol.

I really want to be more careful with my hair.

Morrocan intense oil? Do you mean Mizani intense? Glad your hair kicked back into condition. Is it better than or does it compare to AO HSR/GPB?

No they didn't have mizani but they had the moroccan oil products there and I picked up the intense hydratind mask. and I love it.

I'm sorry what is AO Hsr/gpb?????

Aubrey Organics GPB (Glycogen Protein Balancing deep conditioner) and Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose (moisturizing conditioner). They are organic super deep conditioners that l found to be top of the line.

I have never tried them so I can not tell you. I do know that you only need a little of this conditioner and of course the amount depends on how long and thick your hair is and it just smooth on. and when I rinsed it I mean it was butter soft and I let it air dry with nothing else in it because I wanted to see how it really was with it in it. I could have did the wash n go just like that my hair curled up and was very bouncy. but I did use the jbco oil and plaited it back up.

OMG!!!!! I think I know now what happen to my hair... remember I said my hair does not like protien?????? well I had been using that STRONG ROOTS Red Pimento Hair Growth Oil to my hair for some time now and I just took another look at the ingredients which is one wheat germ which is what?????? a very heavy protien... there is no hair growth nothing that don't have protien and I don't know what I was thinking. CRAZY RIGHT??????

Wheat germ oil is a heavy protein? I had no idea.

yes google it... it has a lot more properties but the protien is too high for me even though it is the last ingrediant in the strong root I think because I was using it like 4 or 5 times a week.
