Hey ladies! Sure you can tell from the title that this is good news. I'm :drunk: right now. I bc'd to less than an inch in October, and today found a 7 inch hair on my head! :dizzy: Crazy right? Here I was all hairexic and whatnot, and boom! I guess it makes sense, my twists are between 5 and 6 inches. Now then, I know you ladies won't do without pics, and by 'found' I really mean 'accidentally pulled out' so now, for your viewing pleasure:

Shortly after BC:

Celebrate the small stuff right? :look:

I think many of our super long hair sisters sometimes forget how big of a deal these "small" accomplishments are.....I think it's HUGE btw :yep:.....

5-6" in 9 months is FABULOUS retention- go on girl!!

So true! We shorter hair ladies celebrate every inch!

That's a great growth rate. I am so happy for you. :yep: I cut my hair to 1/2 inch last October and I only 4 inches of hair. Can you share your regimen with us and a picture of the hair on your head?

In the mean time, here is my contribution to the celebration:

:yay: :woot: :alcoholic :alcoholic :dance7: :clapping: :notworthy :band2: :band:  :beach: :bdance: :weird:  :bouncegre :bouncegre :trampolin :bouncy: :gorgeous: :bighug: :club: :congrats: :cloud9: :circle: :lots: :headspin: :artist: :pepper: :pics: :present: :bounceline: :hottub: :grouphug2: :waytogo: :wow: :thewave:

Thank you! :D I think because up until the bc I'd always had hair down my back, 7 inches doesn't feel like much. Your reminder and encouragement are appreciated. :hug3:

Hehe, very exciting! You look cute with your BC btw!

Thanks! It was actually an accident (and by accident I mean scissor happy badmind Jamaican hairdresser :lachen:). It was supposed to be cut, but not all off. It has allowed me to learn with my hair as it grows though so maybe it was a good thing. :yep:

You will be pulling out 9+ in long hairs by new years!

Kinda hoping they'll stay attached to my head, but I get where you're going with that, and I receive it!

My dear you are amazing! :bighug: It must have taken you forever to find all those smilies. Thank you! I'm glad someone is excited. I told my mum and she wouldn't even give me a high five. :ohwell: She just looks at me and goes, "Well we've already established that your hair grows quickly so..." Don't worry about the slow growing girl, imho when you work hard for something, you value it so much more. :yep:

I was hoping to see a picture with the hair on your actual head, but nevertheless, congratulations.

So um, my hair is in some kinda (I think) funky looking twists right now, but I'll see what I can do.

That's excellent growth, what's your reggie

OP... you have until the end of the day to post a regimen or...

 :whip: :gotroasted: :bat: :mob: :killlurk: :210: :gunner7:

Before you all stone me, here's a link to my 6 month thread. The 11th post contains my reggie (if you want to check out the thread), but I'll copy and paste it here as well.

With regard to my reggie, as I'm currently in England, there's a limited amount of products available for black hair (compared to stateside). I'm also fairly low mani.

Reggie:

Wash every 7-10 days with Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo, or (more recently) Garnier Fructis Repair and Shine Shampoo.

Condition with HE Hello Hydration and Totally Twisted Conditioner, and GF Repair and Shine Conditioner.

Let it dry until damp (air dry or using a t-shirt), then section off to do twists, applying a mix of olive oil, ORS Oil Moisturizing Hair Lotion, and Dark and Lovely Moisture Plus Olive Oil. The twists are usually smaller than a pencil, and sometimes I will also do flat two-strand twists with the twists in front.

The twists I'll usually leave in for about 5ish days, and "fro it" on the weekend. Sometimes I'll co-wash with the twists in, if I'm going to take them out that day or the next.

To keep the hair moisturized between washes/co-washes, I used to use Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance which is a spray leave-in; it leaves my hair feeling soft, but it also makes my scalp flake, so I added [mostly] water and a bit of olive oil and the HE and GF conditioners to it and use that, or I'll reapply some of the D & L Moisture Plus.

I deep condition when the mood strikes me, and will apply Sulfur 8 to my scalp depending on how it's behaving that week.

The reggie will probably change a bit when I go home to the Caribbean for the summer. Hoping for a summer growth spurt! Fingers crossed.

So the reggie is pretty much the same, but the products have changed since getting home. The washing situation is the same, once a week, but I pretty much just use whatever shampoo and conditioner is there at the time (Mum's Tresemme usually), though of late I have been leaning more toward just conditoner.

I have started to do the twists slightly larger a) for time reasons and b) the length now allows for it. I use Elasta QP Olive Oil and Mango Butter (sometimes mixed with Africa's Best Triple Repair Oil Moisturizer) and seal with Jamaican Mango and Lime Shea Butter Conditioning Shine that I've also put some Castor oil in.

I still dc when I feel like, and haven't really done a twist-out in a while but yeah. That's the reggie, it's not super strict. No supplements at the moment, and can also give you the usual advice, exercise, eat well, and WATER (definitely been hitting the water hard since getting home to pretty much 100 degree temps). Not sure if this is a summer growth spurt, or if Mum is right. Suppose time will tell.

Can't think of anything else at the moment, but any questions, just ask or pm me. Thanks again for all of the encouragement! :grouphug:
