Straight & Natural + humidity =??

Grease is the only product that keeps my hair from reverting for several weeks straight. However, if time goes on where I've worn my hair straight for a long time and my hair had been through different weather changes like rain and humidity, my roots and crown area will get poofy.

This used to a be a problem for me-- until I investeed in a 100% ceramic flat iron (not just a coated plate). It really made the difference. Its 115 heat index where i am the past several weeks, and no reversion...

HairQueen Do you mind sharing how you straighten your natural hair (please:)? I straightened about a week ago and I had my hair in a pony tail, as soon as I walked outside the ponytail turned into a ball of fuzz  It was in the evening and it wasn't even that hot :ohwell:

keepithealthy, are you talking to me, b/c you quoted me but "mentioned" someone else. I use the hana elite flat iron (has %100 ceramic plates & gets the job done) and do an oil rinse before hand.

unfortunately, the grease tip is true. when i used to get my hair pressed and greased it stayed that way until i washed it. no reversion at all.

it just sucks that grease is so gross and, well, greasy.:(

Oh I have another question - which grease do you use?
Thanks

HairQueen - I have used Proclaim Emerald Bergamot Hair & Scalp Conditioner (green grease) as well as Ultra Sheen Creme Satin Pres (yellow grease)....

...but now when I straighten my hair, I use Fantasia ic Heat Protector Straightening Serum. It's a better healthier option than the grease and still keeps my hair straight for several weeks. I started using this serum this year 2012. It also doesn't make a singeing/frying sound like the grease did when using the flat iron. I also felt like the grease was causing splits on my hair.
