I read back a few articles. I zeroed in on the one on flatironing just because I just flat ironed my hair a few days ago. I was surprised at one thing.

"Do NOT use the flat iron on the same day as a relaxer service. Why? According to my findings, relaxers and flat irons are a bad mix. Many blame the relaxer for their hair problems. The relaxers can be a potential issue, but more than likely the flat iron is causing the thinning of the ends and possible breakage. Without a relaxer, regardles of your race, flat irons can cause hair to thin, get stringy and break." -Benita Blocker

I'm natural. This question may be dumb but "Is this common practice now?" Not using a flat iron on relaxer day? My stylist always blew me out and used the flatiron on my relaxer days.

As a DIY'er I've never used a flatiron or any heat on relaxer day.

My last stylist did not even want to do a rollerset on relaxer day because the hair was still fragile. She eventually did them because this is what people wanted. I remember when I first started going to her and she had someone helping her. They used blowdryer after relaxing and she quickly took over and said heat should never be used on relaxer day.

Now that I think about it, I think it all has to do with how the hair is relaxed straight the hair is relaxed.

I wonder if this blogger is referring to the marcel iron that is commonly used in black salons. Also many stylist use the same heat temperature for all heads so, yes thinking about his it can cause breakage.

Great find! I'm bookmarking this blog:yep:
PJ's beware - lots of product reviews:look:

This is a GREAT find- thanks for sharing. Interestingly enough as a DIY self relaxer- I never use a Flat Iron on TU day, because I am way to tired. Glad to know I was benefiting my hair's health. I never FI till the 2nd wash.
