hi ladies,
I just started using cassia. Has anyone used it mixed with a protein conditioner like AO GPB or ORS mayo? If so, what were your results?TIA

I haven't used Cassia yet (its in the mail), but I have used henna before quite a few times...and in my experience, mixing protein with it is a no-no:nono:... after that massive amount of strengthening you need mucho moisture. a protein condish after the first time i used henna and it was horrible...maybe the ORS replenishing pak wouldn't be too bad but i think the added protein may not be a good idea...

that's what I was worried about. Too much protein and making the hair too hard. I haven't figured out my reg yet. Moisture follows protein but I heard most users do the cassia thing in the beg of wash routine. It just seems redundant to mix with moisturizing treatment, do protein and have to moisturize again hmmm.

I was considering doing this today; but I guess I'll just do my protein treatment this week and my use my cassia next week.

Ah! I would wait a bit and see how your hair feel first. Protein for me lasts about 3 weeks max - depending on how often I shampoo and cowash my hair.

Cassia though similar to henna doesn't give that hard feeling the same way. I've mixed it with oils, conditioners etc with no problems, I actually feel its not as strong as henna treatments so you'll be ok. Its more effective straight up though in my opinion (if you're going for the shine from it)

It definitely made my hair softer than henna for sure, but just not as much as the strength. I do like cassia too because i don't have to be extra careful with the application, wear gloves, etc.

Note: I've henna treatments on and off for several months and decided to try cassia. The red glow I had from the henna turned into magenta. :lachen: I did an henna/indigo to cancel that out eventually. Just beware.

That's awesome, do you have pictures?

that sounds like a lil too much protien...I always add two tablespoons of cassia to my moisturizing DC mix, and my hair loves it...I haven't even needed protein since ive started using cassia...

Like greenandchic said try doing Cassia and first...

Do a patch test.

Considering how cassia works, it may actually work well with a protein conditioner. I would think you wouldn't need much though. Maybe start with a 10:90 mix, then adjust it from there.
