Just wanted to start a thread dedicated to the most hair changing products/treatments/methods.

For me, Oil rinsing takes my hair from cottony, bushy to well defined soft curls. a nickel size per section (i part my hair in 6 sections) changes everything before my DC.

Silk Elements moisturizing DC helped me get through what seemed like an impossible transition.

For all the products and methods available, I think the best think I could have done for my hair was to simply take better care of my body. My hair health has improved with deep moisture and protein treatments. BUT, by taking care of my body - my hair is growing without too many issues. I supplement with a GREAT quality Fish oil with D3 booster which has made a heck of a difference in the look and feel of my hair.

Adding ceramides to my regimen. I use Hot Six Oil in everything (HOTs, add to conditioners, sealing, mix it with my leave in) and my hair stays soft, shiny and moisturized for days.

Could you say more about how Silk Elements helped you transition? I would like to stretch longer so could you say how it helped and what it did?

Product wise:
Prepooing with vatika oil is currently helping my hair out tremendously.

Methods:
Washing my hair in braids instead of loose sections has really cut down on the time it takes me to wash and detangle my hair. It has also helped me retain a lot of length over the past 2 years ive been doing it.

*Using ceramides
*Oil rinsing
*Prepooing and detangling with conditioner before shampoo

What ceramide products do you like? I've seen the long list but I would like to cut that down to size. Are you using it for your shampoo, conditioner, leave in or all of the above?

Thanks.

Sulfate free everything.
No Petroleum
No Mineral oil
Low manipulation Styling
And treating my hair as if it were gold.

When I started my hair thang and I had heat and chemical overprocessing damage, the Aphogee line gave me dramatic results with consistent use.

Spritzing my hair with water then sealing my with a natural butter.

When I first went natural none of those commercial moisturisers worked for me. Even when I bought Anita Grants hair butters which seemed to work for everyone else still didn't work that well for me. It was only when I applied to damp hair my hair retained moisture. The next time I tried a normal butter, first shea now I'm using avocado and it's just the best thing ever. But the butters would never work alone.

Detangling before shampooing
Washing in big twists
HOT (using coconut, oilve and castor oil)
Using a protein (Joico) twice a month.

Giving up cones and heat worked wonders for my hair.

Both of these apply to me as well. I avoid cones as much as possible, and wear my hair curly 90% of the time. I have a new butter mix I just made with shea butter, mango butter, castor oil, aloe vera oil, bringraj/amla/hibiscus oil blend, and a smidge of glycerin. I applied this to my wet hair right out the shower and OMG, my hair feels soooo good today:yep:. Definitely a staple from now on.

Mane & Tail Conditioner!!!!!! It costs $3 bucks at Walmart in the pet aisle. Been using it and grew to BSL quick! Should have always used it. I use it as a leave in before shampoo and a rinse out conditioner at the end.

Redken Smooth Down Conditioner - if I had this as a heat straightened natural...I wouldn't have texlaxed ever. It helps me straighten my hair drastically better and more "salon" like results. Smooths the cuticle and eases straightening. It's a keeper!

Miracle 2000 Vitamin from GNC for 29.99. Yup, it's worth it. Keeps me healthy, gives me energy and makes my hair GROW!

SE was the only DC that provided consistent results, detangling and very moisturizing for my hair. Its a staple for me. All my other Dc's failed me, but this gave consistent results. I have dense 4a/b hair.

BUT i do notice that my natural hair is much easier to detangle than the parts that were previously relaxed.

I use Hot Six Oil because it was easiest for me to find and it has 3 ceramides (WGO, safflower and sesame oils). I add it to everything but I think it's most effective when added to DCs and used with heat (I just use a shower cap), as a HOT and used to seal after moisturizing.

Btw Lisa who is that in your avi? I remember her face but can't remember her name

Right now, I'm just using oils: hemp seed, sunflower and kukui, but my hair loves oils anyways. :yep: I do want to get more into using some of the conditioners that has it like Aubrey Organic, etc.

Methods
Doing EVERYTHANG in sections (moisturizing, washing, conditioning, styling)
Compared to before I loose so little hair
Prepooing (lightly oiling hair or lightly applying conditioner)
Hair is clean not stripped
Diluting my Poo
Hair is clean not stripped
Not washing my hair so dog on much
My hair was VERY dry when I first started taking care of it:( because I would like wash with full strength poo 2X a week when my hair only needs diluted poo 1X a week or every other week

Incorporating Oils

Products/Tools
OILS, OILS, OILS (specifically jojoba, monio de tahiti, and argan, castor, and rice bran)
Elucence Moisture Benefits Poo (my hair is not stripped but clean; I dilute this)
Steamer (when I use it :( I get some awesome results; I need to get back on it)

WATER!!! The more water you drink, the better you and your hair looks! :yep: Daily spritzing with water is the original moisturizer.

I tried the curly primer method following all her steps and it made my naturally frizzy cottony 4a hair clump together and form soft curls.
I'm thrilled my curlsize did not change rather what got lost in the frizz is now smooth, I might have to throw some 3c3b in my type as well.
Those strands were previously just poofy more like a straight 4b , they just were really big undefined curls.

I'm not Lisa, but the woman in the avatar is Lynn Whitfield.

As for the topic at hand, doing steam treatments have helped me maintain a consistent moisture level as well as ease detangling.

I remember I had to stop oil rinsing bc after a while it made my relaxed strands stick together like glued. But I can see this working on natural hair for curl definition

Spritz of avj/glycern + moisturizing with Aussie Moist + sealing with castor oil = soft, defined, moisturized curls.

Using avj+glycerin as my spray (instead of just distilled water as I had been doing) has helped my hair tremendously and help cut the fuzzies down. Also after spraying applying Aussie Moist wash-out conditioner as my leave-in. I did seal with shea butter, but it lead to breakage for me??? So I'm back to using what works! And I'll never leave you again, Aussie Moist!

Methods:Cowashing multiple times a week
Weekly DCing
Detangling in the shower
Nightly M&S
PSing every day

Products that helped:Most SE products...period

Hello Ladies,
How do you hot oil rinse step by step? Do you do the below? It seems strange to me that one would do the hot oil treatment then wash the hair with shampoo (sulfate free of course). It seems like one would wash all the oil out. Am I wrong?

1. Wash
2. Conditon
3. oil rinse
4. do twist out style????
