I am a PJ, but have cut back on my spending and have been doing things to use up my stash (especially products I no longer use because I have found something better). Some of those things include:

1. Using my old, cheaper conditioners as detanglers (since I detangle right before co-washing or shampooing).

2. Making moisturizing spritz or leave-ins by using creams or conditioners that aren't being used in spray bottles with water.

3. Donating products to women's shelters.

4. Adding baking soda to conditioners and use to clarify scalp.

What creative ways do you use or get rid of products?

I mixed some conditioners I don't like anymore with some oils I needed to get rid of to deep condition.

I use shampoos and hand soap in the dispensers and to wash my lingerie and swimsuits in the sink. I also use it to prewash extension hair and to clean my hair tools and hair accessories.

Just this week someone said they were using a conditioner to shave their legs. Thought that was a good idea.

I am looking forward to hearing other ways people are using things.

i too mix old condish with water in a spray bottle - use it a lot especially on curly weave hair. i use old shampoos to wash my scarves, or maybe even a pillowcase that may have gotten some oil on it.

I use unwanted conditioners as shaving cream for my legs.

i also some times do the condish/water spritz, or use condishes i dont like as pre-poos or mix them with oil to detangle...sometimes i mixed them in cassia treatments, but i havent done one in a while...or i give them away/swap...i dont like throwing out products b/c i paid for them lol so i usually find a way to get rid of it.

I'm subscribing. I think this may be a jewel of a thread as it grows.

I use the oil sheens on squeaky doors. Used some on my front door last year and haven't had a squeak since then. To hayle with WD-40

I use shampoo to clean my makeup brushes with. Then, condition them with cheap conditioners.

Creams and Butter as moisturizers
Conditioners as shaving lotion:)

Oils I don't need anymore when in braids or traveling soon-
1. Use the oils on my skin instead of my hair.
2. Cook with the oils- olive oil, coconut oil, macadamia nut oil all great for stir fry if I need to finish the bottle when my hair is in braids.
3. Pedicure use oils to soften callouses.

I use the shampoo to wash delicates, make-up brushes or to clean out the tub. Conditioner I use on my feet with socks over night to make them baby soft.

I do these two mostly. I plan on donating the ones that are mostly full. My mother's idea :)

Swap Or Trade with Other PJ's. You can always get something Good.

I've been donating products to Soujourner's Shelter for abused women & children for the past several years. I usually take things in 3 or 4 times per year and they love to see me coming :lachen:.

I've used unwanted hair butters and creams as body moisturizers

I've done that too!

*I've used oil sheen spray on my legs because baby oil is too messy for me.

*Used conditioner for shaving.

*Given products away to coworkers.

*Used hairsprays & spritzes to kill bugs.

*Used shampoos as hand soap or body washes.

*Just plain throwing them away. Giving away something like brown gel just isn't right.

I use unwanted conditioners as a filler with coconut milk and honey for a DC

That's a cool idea. :yep:

Unwanted shampoos = hand soap, body wash, or soap for my foot bath
unwanted oils, butters or pomades = moisturizers for my feet, knees and elbows or cuticle oil
unwanted conditioners = shaving cream and post henna co-washers

I've been cleaning my headbands in a bowl of water and a bit of shampoo for suds.
