I love headbands, but I think I am too old for any headband with a pendant big enough to clutch in my fist... and I'm not even twenty five yet.

Nonie I dont think there is anything with a woman of your age wearing those. Now the last one if you are a wild child/lady go for it. I'm almost 30 and my mom is almost 60 and we swap headbands all the time. But if it were a Hello Kitty head band I would look at her and any other older woman a little funny. Also it has to do with how you are dressed and the event IMO.

I dont like most of them for anyone past the single digits of age, dont wear them, looks silly/kiddie to me...kinda cheapens the style. Have seen a very few cute ones, but bows and fake flowers and glitter and rainbows and whatnot on adults looks goofy. jmo.

Who knew!?!?

I don't wear them but my head is just too big. I couldn't find a comfortable one even when I was in the single digits! :lachen::lachen::lachen:

Some of them do give me headache.....:ohwell:. It may be cause of what you mentioned. Now, I have the problem where it interferes with my glasses when I wear headbands.

@lady_godiva :nono2: Now see...that's not exactly what I had in mind. See, if I'm coming to meet you for lunch, my hair'd be in a protective style first of all, probably in a bun or somep'n. After all, I'm meeting a Nikos' Cousin and I have gotta represent. Then I'd also try to be a little flashier than that. Did you forget the bling on my bow?? :whyme: And I'd make sure to start hollering for you from a block away so you'd be good and ready coz I hate waiting.

I'm a fix that pic for you. BRB.

@lady_godiva Pic fixed to give you an idea of basically how I plan to look so you know what to look out for.

I dunno what I did to my white Nikos' Cousin shirt so I'll wear the pink shirt dress. It does kinda clash a bit with the bow, I know, but I'm hoping my matching Dorothy shoes will redeem the outfit a bit. And just coz this is a special occasion, I'ma don my grill to add bling to my smile. So you can't miss me now. Plus I'll be sure to start hollering for you before I get there, as promised, to make it easier for you to ID me:

I believe Headbands can be worn in good taste and Age Appropriate. They are Classic.

I feel like Pearls, A Good Headband is a Timeless Accessory.

By the way: the so called "trendy" headbands and head adornments are a new school twist on the hair accessories that were worn in 1920-1930, by adults. So I don't see any problem with them personally....

@topnotch1010 And this is why I'm so not a fashion rule follower because that bow is on my "to wear this season" list for summer 2011. No, I'm not kidding! I wear bows all the time!

This bow was made with a big scarf which is why it doesn't have a bow-tie shape but had I used a smaller scarf, a clear bow-tie shape, not unlike your first pic, would have been the result:

The heart on the head thing is not something I would do or even do on any child. I don't like it (come to think of it, I can't think of a time I wore hearts on anything!), so it's matter of taste rather than the style that makes me not like it. Had that been a different ornament, I might've done it.

ETA: what is the difference between at 25 year old and 40+ year old? Wrinkles? Jowls? ID card info? I mean, if one didn't tell you her age, how could you look and determine "she's 15 years older than the appropriate age for that look"?

Nonie where did you get that head wrap. I love it!

@Nonie where did you get that head wrap. I love it!

keepithealthy Thank you. It's just any ol' scarf you can pick up at Target. I am sure you've seen them. These, but the black one to the left:

I just folded it into half length-wise then once more and placed the center at the back of my head and brought it forward then tied a regular bow. I then fluffed it out by pulling material from the center of the bow to create the floral illusion.

For some headbands there is a cut off. Case in point:

:giggle:

@LovelyNaps26, you think that'd not look cool on a grown up? Wanna bet?

The main part of it minus the flower is actually something I found so attractive on a member here. She had it in the color of her dyed hair and I honestly thought she'd braided or done something to her hair to create that pattern. I PMed her to tell how hawt I thought that is and to ask how she created that (It was in her siggy and small so I couldn't really tell what she'd done). So trust me, Nonie woulnd have no problem sporting that ^^ look even with flower. :look: BTW, the member I was talking about is @MyAngelEyez~C~U Check out her LHCF album. She's wearing a similar band minus the flower with her puff and I think it's uber purrrty...just FIYAH! I think the only think that would make me not wear it is if it had hearts or kiddy characters like Winnie the Pooh. But if it's plain like that? Brang it I'ma show you how it's done!

MyAngelEyez~C~U, I'm only now realizing that the band is not red. I always thought that parts of your hari that show through are the band. Go Figure! Even when you sent me the close up, I still didn't get it--which is kinda dumb coz if it had matched your hair the pattern I see wouldn't show up but it'd just blend in with your hair. Duh! :dork:

Thanks for posting the pics.

I live in headbands. I've loved them since I was a girl. I don't know if any of my coworkers have even seen me without one when I wear out my natural hair. :Blush2:

This is why people are afraid to get old! Someone is always there to say what is not age appropriate! This really all sounds silly. You can only wear a headband if youre young or if you are older and just happen to look youthful? Oh please if Im 58 and decide to wear a big behind bow on my head I will! Hmmph

What do you think? I think as long as the headband itself is age appropriate then it is fine no matter the age.

Really?! We have to worry about age appropriate head bands now? I say wear whatever you want. If you like it and it makes you feel great go with it.
