Is there a "cut off" age for headbands?

What do you think? I think as long as the headband itself is age appropriate then it is fine no matter the age.

I wear one almost every day. My headband collection range from the cheapie, elastic ones from Wal-mart to the expensive, metal ones from ficcare.com. They are a nice accessory, plus they keep my hair off my face when I wear it down.

I don't think these are age appropriate for anyone over 25. Any headband made for adults should be ok for any age group IMO.

This bow was made with a big scarf which is why it doesn't have a bow-tie shape but had I used a smaller scarf, a clear bow-tie shape, not unlike your first pic, would have been the result:

The heart on the head thing is not something I would do or even do on any child. I don't like it (come to think of it, I can't think of a time I wore hearts on anything!), so it's matter of taste rather than the style that makes me not like it. Had that been a different ornament, I might've done it.

ETA: what is the difference between at 25 year old and 40+ year old? Wrinkles? Jowls? ID card info? I mean, if one didn't tell you her age, how could you look and determine "she's 15 years older than the appropriate age for that look"?

It depends on the headband. I feel fine in my simple headbands with rhinestones, beaded headbands, or the sequins kind.

However, last week I made the mistake of wearing a huge blue bow headband, and felt like a buffoon so I took it off. I also thought it made me look like a kid.

I think headbands are cute and feminine and I have a wide variety to match all my clothes. I just bought some cute headbands w/flower accents and I think i'm gonna get into the fascinator look. I'm thinking about making some of my own using brooches or something like that.

To further explain why "cut off" age rules make no sense to me, here's a lady at 25 (left) and then at 50 (right). IMO she looks younger at 50 than she did at 25 and no she's not had any surgery. Face exercises have been her secret.

So how can anyone say, "It's OK for her to wear X at 25 but not at 50"? Why does that number mean so much when it doesn't even show on a person's face? Granted, there are people who change a lot as they age and so change in how they dress would make sense, but rules like "there's a cut-off age for a certain hairdo" especially if the ages being compared are all adult ages, IMO, are nonsensical.

I can usually tell around or about a persons age by their face. I can't put my finger on it but maybe around the eyes and the elasticity of the skin around the face. I also notice that younger people tend to not wear a lot of makeup and still look youthful. When someone a little older doesn't put on makeup you can clearly see their age. I don't know if this makes any sense...

Nonie I can clearly see her age around her eyes. That old school hairdo and caked on makeup is prematurely aging her in the first pic. Maybe that was in style at the time though.

I'm not even looking at her hair or style. Just the freshness of her face, and if it is makeup that was aging her, then that 25 years later, she can look fresh WITHOUT makeup (perhaps how she would have looked had she not caked it on 25 years earlier) surely is a huge accomplishment. She's been referred to as "aging backward". To me, the makeup isn't aging because I'm able to look beyond it. There's a tone to a face and smoothness that is part and parcel of youth...and as we age we lose tone, and mass and get sags and wrinkles. Her face seems like none of that happened in 25 years, IMO.

Funny you can tell her age from her eyes. I encounter people in their 20's and 30's with worse eyes than hers and then most celebs have had work done. Which again supports my theory that there shouldn't be a cut-off age for hairstyles. Since folks can look old in their young age or young in their old age. Then there's personalities, etc.

I personally love headbands. I think if you are buying them from the adult hair section, then anything displayed there would be approriate. I personally wouldn't go buy any from the kids sections (they probably would be too small?) and also for the fact they're targeted for kids. I wear all different kinds and I will wear them until im 100 years old.

Nonie here are some for you. The 1st and 2nd ones I have. I call the 2nd one the church hat headband b/c IMO it make me think of the church mothers and their hats. The last one I wouldn't be cought dead in it unless it was halloween and I was dressed as a flappper. The first one is like a black tie wedding one. But for the most part like others have stated as long it doesn't look like you got it from you child or a grandchild its fine. But sometimes you have to let your inner child out just as long as youdon't look crazy doing it.
