When you see hair like this (pics)

Ok yes I'm a rookie!!! This is my first lf and it's from a BSS. I didn't really apply any of the application tips from the other forum (bleaching knots or the tape trick) because I'm lazy so I was wondering how bad it looks just plopped on my head. It isn't glued or pinned down but I was hoping it didn't look too fake.

I have one coming from a vendor that people seem to like. I'll take time make sure that one is applied better. I'm cornrowed and baggied underneath. I'm hoping to use it as a PS for a full year until next June- my wedding.

It totally looks real. You're cute OP!

Wow, I was about to say it looked as if you flatironed it . Great application. What the name of it and was it terribly expensive. I like the kind that look as though they're made with a natural part
The name is "It Tress' "
style hlw-802
color #4

It was $149.99 but was probably marked up at the BSS. I'm sure if you search online it could be cheaper.

sorry lol...but it yeah its the color...it might not be that noticeable in person though lol...plus i dont think that many people are gonna be all up in your scalp to tell anyways...and if you tweak the hair line, it will be a buffer between your forehead skin and the lace, so the color is not that obvious
I'm sorry, can you explain more? I'm not sure if I get what you are saying. Do you mean tweeze out some of the hair so that my skin comes through?

I thought it was real too, lol. But I'm no expert. I'd totally wear it out in a heartbeat.

You are very pretty.

I thought it was your hair, then I thought it was a lace front. But I'll be honest, it is one of the best applications I have seen in a long time and the look becomes you. What gave it away for me was the first shot where you showed the back of your hair. All weaves and wigs have that look in the back, not matter how natural the front looks, lol. But overall, well applied.

In the first pic it look soooo natural In the 2nd pic it looks sort of wiggy and the third pic with the scalp showing is what made me think "lacefront". Overall, I think it looks great-with the right techniques, it'll look excellent.

I love that couch, btw.

It looks like you are wearing a lace front (there's no scalp showing at the part) in the first set of pictures you posted but the second set looks like your hair? I like the color and the length is perfect on you.

Also you are gorgeous! Is that your real eye color? If not what contacts and color are those?

Thanks! We looked all over for the right couch for the space.

Ok this lady has one of the best scalps I've seen in moving pics
http://www.youtube.com/user/meechie2cute#p/u/15/_zXXn3u3UkE

but there are some pics on bhm that are so amazing that I literally think they are lying and it's their hair. amazing. I need to get on their level

There is "scalp" showing in both sets of pics. But yes, it does look more realistic in my natural light pics (2nd set).

Those are my eyes. Thanks again

I think "Its a decent looking lace front." :yep:

Honestly....I think the question made me think this. I looked SO HARD at the pic because I figured it had to be fake for such a cryptic post. Its better than decent looking IMHO. Had you just posted pics, I would've had to look twice to notice it was a LF. Otherwise I would've clicked, looked and kept it movin! Nice job!

For this to be your first AND its a BSS wig...its very flattering. Good job!

no lol i mean make the hairline more realistic with the "baby hair" (i think you do use tweezers though), so that instead of it going from your skin directly to the lace scalp, its your skin, then the baby hairs around the hairline, then the lace scalp. HTH.

For those who immediately knew, what gave it away?

I tried to take the pics all up in the part/ top of my head to mimic what someone would see if they were talking to me face to face and were a little taller than me. I see grids in person but not so much in pics. So what are the obvious LF give aways?

When people wear a LF (especially rooks) its worn in a way that the sides are not exposed.

And then the hairline is too clean. Some people don't have recession (from fine baby hairs into your hairline) in their hairline but most black people do.

I think it looks good. I think the scalp looks fine it may be the bright lights from from the background and/or your camera that may be off for some people. I don't think its overly obvious or anything.

How does the baby hair make my scalp/ part look more realistic? Not trying to be dense, but I'm just trying to understand and clarify.

I think I'm going to wear my next wig behind my hairline

OP
If you want to post your pics but not have them quoted delete them fromthe post then reupload as attachments

This may not be the best examples but here goes:

LMAO at the bold because I definitely covered the sides on purpose because I didn't apply it properly (or at all). LF rookie FAIL

Maybe I'm having a hard time understanding the baby hair concept because I don't have any in the front, only on the temples and back. Or maybe I just don't know what I'm looking for.

it would just camoflauge the difference of the scalp color a little bit because instead of the scalp of the wig immediately starting where your skin ends, the baby hair is inbetween it a little bit. also i think some people put a little foundation on the scalp of the wig to make it look more realisti.

Ok, so I get the second pic: thin it out to make the hairline more realistic. Yea, I plan on doing that but I'm confused because won't my real hair peek through and make it look funny?

AAAHHHH I need a personal LF tutor!

As for the first pic, I don't have those whispy baby hairs in the front naturally. I'm not sure how I feel about creating it if it isn't natural for me. Sometimes I see those baby hairs and it just makes it look faker for me.

The LF that is coming in the mail comes with baby hair though... I don't know what I'm going to do with it.

I did put foundation on the part. To me, the scalp looks like the same color as my skin- which I guess is off since the scalp is usually lighter, as my real scalp is.

Like I said I still think it looks nice but do not wear it if you know you are going to do a lot of walking around or anywhere hot because you may by habit use your hand to brush hair off your face which may expose the sides.

the hair is gorgeous!

oh and i missed it when you said you might wear your next LF behind youre hairline, and i've seen people on YT alleviate the whole issue of the fake hairline doing that, and it looks really good, assuming the textures are the same/very similar.

When I saw the first set I thought nice hhj after seeing the second set I thought wow great wigs just because of the change of color

I thought it was some seriously relaxed hair. Heh. But I'm not real familiar with wigs/lace fronts myself. Perhaps most people you meet won't be either. And the people who do recognize that it is, will be the type of people who understand why you are protective styling.

@iri9109 thanks for all your suggestions! Please keep them coming. I want to look good on vaycay!

I applied my hair behind the hairline. Here are the pics. Tell me what you think. I am showing my temples in the pic to show the behind the hairline application. But now the front/ top looks even weirder. I don't know how to fix that. Help/ suggestions/ anything

And there's a pic to show that my front has no real baby hair. I'm holding my own hair in one pic and it's normal density/ length hair.

This is how I actually wear it.

Hope I get some good suggestions on how to fix the top. I'm off to dinner.

my barometer for fake hair is whether the hair just looks TOO healthy, too even textured and smooth...so, I kept thinking the hair looked fake but I can't ID lacefronts yet, so I didn't know that was it. But two things: 1) you are a very pretty girl, so I think people will pay more attention to your face than hair, and 2) it looked nice on you.
