Ladies,

Ya'll know I don't flat iron often if at all. But lately, I've been in a seducing mood (teehee) and I'm thinking that would be awesome to give a lil' SWANG.....with a marcel that is. So tempted. Of course if you're not afraid of heat, this question is moot but for the chickens in the house *raises hand* would you do it? And don't try to tell me to heck with the man, do it for you LHCFers lol. Although, you would benefit as I'd send pics :yep:

You know you got it bad when you wanna burn your hair for a man LOLOLOL

What would you do?

I'm relaxed and don't use direct heat , every time I think about doing so I get a flash back of my hard , dry, heat damaged hair with a 2 inch patch in the back from 2 years ago :-( BUTTTT, if the hair is healthy enough and can take heat well .. GO FOR IT! I plan on lightly flat ironing my hair in the front next month to blend with a half wig while I'm on vacation. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to flat iron my whole head right now though... I'm not even brave enough to wear it down lol. I guess I would have to be in the situation to say exactly what I would do.

This would have to be one those "special" once or twice a year tricks for DH. Cuz I definitely ain't straightening more often than that.

Thankfully, I have a VERY large bag of "tricks" that includes a long straight wig, among other things:blush::grin:

I haven't done this since I started my journey. I flat ironed once last year for the first time, but I would love to marcel it to get that real silk swang...way scared....

well my answer is moot:look: but have you tried getting a straight wig or half wig?

i do have to say i get more attention since i have been wearing my hair straight 90% of the time hair straight. i dont know if thats a good or bad thing:look:

I did back in 2007 which led to major breakage and eventually hair boards and my current HHJ. I know how I can straighten and keep my hair healthy now but it takes too much time and is so temporary that I don't do it "just because."

Sure, why not? Nothing wrong with switching things up to please someone. Now if you felt you needed to wear it like that all the time to keep a man's attention, I'd say heck no. haha

No way, ain't trying to do that all the time. In fact he's only seen meen in twists and maybe a twist out one time. But I just wanna come out with a BAM!!!! just one time...LOL And I want it to be my own hair, no wig.
Well, maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to do what I've been dying to do for some years now....

Hey @MsLizziA,

I'll be down in NO for the essence festival (I might have mentioned this to you before) and did you say don't wear the hair straight b/c it would frizz or ????
I can use a BAM!!! moment there too LOLOLOL
Ya'll I'm just trying to have some fun with this hair now....I did my trim at the salon a couple of weeks ago and while it reached my waist when stretching with my fingers, I asked for a good trim so I'm not sure how long it is now with just a blowdry. The marcel would definitely clear things up lol

Yes I would do it. You said for a man but no where in the post do you say he is asking you. So some part of this is for you. I definitely believe in having fun, living it up and feeling sexy when the mood hits. So I say get your swang on girl.

Of course you know what heat can do, so just be wise and take the necessary precautions.

I don't know if I will flat iron but I will be using a straightening comb to get that swang when it gets long enough.

As the other ladies have said, if it's on occasion and not a regular occurrence, why the heck not? I straightened for my grandmother last year since she's not too keen on my natural hair. I straightened for my man's birthday a few years back, not that he asked me to. I'm straightening for his cousin's wedding this summer (but that's more to prove a point to his momma :look:). Take proper precautions, and do the darn thang! And send pics .

In that case, I would DEFINATELY do it. I love those "BAM" moments :yep:

Fine 4s Oh yes it will be hot so to fight the weather is futile. Lol just let your hair do what it wants. If you straighten, you will only be disappointed

I see no problem with it. Now if it were a "I only like your hair straight"/no compromise thing I'd say hecks no.

Keep em' guessing, that is sexy. The same ol' can get boring. You can straighten your hair without burning it. Deep con., Heat protectant, air drying, low heat, with a wrap = get your "swang" on! Show them how it's done...this is a reward for all of your hard work!

OK. I'm on it....now I gotta find that right date. Hmmmm...maybe I'll set something up. The hardest thing will be setting up an apt. with my stylist UGH!!! He's on lock until next January!!!!

Yep :yep: I did recently. He mentioned he'd like to see it straight, and so I surprised him at a big gathering we went to. It's been months since I straightened, and I was due for a length check, so I didn't mind at all!

Funny...I thought this thread was asking, "Would I flat iron my man's hair"...And that conjured up so many thoughts  Carry on...

Funny... good question.. I havent used heat since before 10/08... my first thought is Heck no! BUT I think if hubby asked me and caught me in the right 'mood' I'd probably do it :look:

I have no issues straightening my hair occasionally for a man. What is the point of having all that length if you can allow your man to run his fingers through it and fawn over you occasionally :gorgeous:

*chanting* do it! do it! do it! :lachen:

just remeber you LHCF rules for heat usage, and post pics :sekret: im always looking for hair porn

flat ironing is way too time consuming and damaging on my hair to do it for someone else so i personally wouldn't. men get on my nerves and i typically go out of my way to do things i know they won't like.:ohwell:

exactly what i thought!:lachen:

I swear, this question comes up on here ATLEAST every 2 weeks. If a man doesn't want or appreciate my nappy, coily, curly, or whatever terminology is hot in the streets right now, then I don't want him. And beside most men love my natural hair. I would only straighten my hair if I wanted to personally.

I have done it for my husband. DH was not feeling me going natural but said he would
Support whatever makes me happy . I have straightened my hair New Year's and Valentine's Day. He
was too thrilled that I cared enough to please him when he hadn't even asked me to.
Now he totally loves my braidouts and playing with my natural hair. Men have feelings too;
And I am sure your man will appreciate that u took the time and effort to change irt up
For him. Hope we get to see your straight hair pics!

i did it twice and paid for it. i ended up BC'ing to a fade twice too. i am so scared of heat. i thought about it recently, but i am just too scared, plus i would sweat it out and it would look like a puffy mess.

oh, just to clarify, he didn't ask me, but his actions pressured me to do it. never again...

If you don't mind doing the work I say go for it. I am just to lazy to straighten my hair and my husdand does not even care about that.

I'm afraid of heat but if I KNEW it would
get a positive reaction I totally would
if it went unnoticed I'd never do anything
to my hair for him again lol
