Okay ladies, I've got both and uploaded comparison shots. http://public.fotki.com/lovinlocks/her-lock-story/lace-flair-vs-the-m/

I have yet to wear the products but am looking forward to it. My synopsis thus far: I like the fact that The Lace Flair encloses your natural hair between two wefts. Thus, if you lift the piece you do not see your ponytail because it's in between the wefted hair.

The Mane Clip - the way around seeing your ponytail is to take a piece of weave hear and wrap it around your ponytail before installing the clip. It makes it work, but is an extra step in comparison with LF.

Let me know what you think and thanks in advance for looking.

Namaste,

LL

I really like the LF a lot. That texture of hair is so pretty. It would look way better if it had your pretty silver streak too.

I love my UPA! The design in so genius! ;)

I rave about it whenever I can. I don't ever plan on purchasing a Mane Clip. It's a good idea, but UPA took it to the next level, and the hair looks better :yep:

How do you feel the hair compares? Is the Mane Clip hair of the same quality as the UPA hair?

Hi Tiffers,

Actually, umm, the hair in the Mane Clip, I purchased on my own via e-Bay. The hair with the Lace Flair was purchased through them.

The weft with the Lace Flair is verrrry soft (not like my hair); the texture of the hair I purchased and installed with my The Mane Clip is more like my hair texture (wet n wavy). HTHs

Though I know I could cut the hair from the Lace Flair to use other hair, I doubt that I will which means it will be expensive (in long run) to use Lace Flair, but I believe, I believe I like it's concept the best because the weft is sewn two pieces, two places on the barrette which allows it to surround my ponytail. Sooo, will just have to save my duckies 'cause I know I'll want more LF barrettes, and to get them with a texture more like mine. Now, the silver streak thang, don't know what I'mo do 'bout that. Of course, I could just dye all my hair 1b and be done with it, eh?

Hey LL,

I don't have a mane clip but I have 2 UPA clips.

I like them a lot but I have the same problem you had in pic 16...my own hair peeks through the middle of the pony and I'm self-conscious about that when I wear it.

I think you're right that this would be good for someone with not much hair just enough to snatch back into a small pony and then their own hair would be undetectable. The only way I have success with this is when I enclose my hair and the clip together and pin it up like a bun.

This is a pic of my clip before I dyed it to match my hair better. This is also the only other way I can wear it without my own pony sticking through.

Hey Ms. DeeVee,

I guess we could borrow the technique from TMC and wrap our pony tail with corresponding hair that is on the clip; then clip it up. Of course, that would add another step to using the apparatus. Oh, thanks for the heads up with what you do. I'll try that when I first wear it.

im on the website now... so when i pick the hair i want, does it automatically include the clip? or do i have to buy a clip too? (laceflair, not mane clip)

Yes it includes your choice of barrette or at least it did when I bought mine.

If you have really thick hair like I do make sure you let her know so she can send you the larger barrettes with the larger opening.

Wait, sidenote, not to hijack but the mane clip is ONLY to use the ponytail attachment?? Aww I'm sad, they had a really pretty clip I liked.

Thank kinky, curly is so pretty!!!

I can't wait until I can make a ponytail again...its going to be UPA all the way!! That's the second best thing...lace front being the first best thing. I haven't been able to wear my UPA since my big chop but I'm getting closer and I plan to get a nice kinky curly to sport by the spring...

That's my goal.

Wait, suga. Not sure I get you; BUT, one may use TMC with their own ponytail (natural hair) if they choose. ??? Did I get you correctly?

See, here is what she says:

The Mane clip as a Barrette for Thick and/or Long Hair
The Mane Clip by virtue of its size is considered a large barrette and is great for thick and/or long hair.

The Ponytail

 1. Hold your hair into a tight ponytail with one hand and with the other hand clip the Mane clip to the base of your hair to hold it.

When I got my UPA I received my choice of barrette with the original hair that I chose and I purchased another 1 from her . Is that what you meant?

As far as The Mane clip I thought you just buy the clip from them and if you wish you can also buy hair from them or you can add on your own weave hair.

News Flash

TMC forgot to send the free barrette advertised when I ordered. I contacted her (Michelle).

WHY DID I GET A PACKAGE YESTERDAY WITH five, COUNT 'EM 5 (FIVE) barrettes. Woooooo whoooo. I had to let you all know the extra extra mile she went. I'll try and get pics up when I get settled.

I just ordered my 3rd UPA clip. I used the other 2 UPA clips in the beginning of my natural hair journey. My latest order will take me to BSL as a protective style. I like the UPA clip.

Here it is:

I recently started back wearing my mane clip after purchasing some wet and wavy hair. I like the fact that the barrette is large and its fits my hair over a bun.

Can we get some pictures with UPA wearers with the different textures in their hair? I'm thinking about purchasing but want to see how it looks on others. Thanks!

Working my way back from a bc last May. I've got enough pony to get started on my hair pieces (love 'em). Think I'll revisit these products, oh yeah.

How have you ladies been (anybody herre), LOL?

if you can pull your hair to waist length then it is waist length. I say full or not when it is only come strands that are pulling there and the rest of the hair is like mid back, I claim APL but not full because all of my hair is not pulling to that length. and also I am starting at the every begining of APL.

Did you mean to post this here, suga? It reads like a response that would go in the thread about WL (stretched or no) that I started last week.

Hello ladies, I am bumping up this thread, and ask a few questions.

1. Is this available in the uk
2. I have 4b natural hair, which one would you suggest
3. the cost for the Hair flair and mane clip.

I am moving towards the mane clip as I seems cheaper and I will be able to use the hair available in the uk, but the hair flair seem to produce the better effect.

Help....lol

Thank you Susanna
