How do you maintain this style?

How long do you keep them in?

What products do you use?

Do you have any extra tips?

I have worn non extension box braids but I think since I wet them so much I can only make it to two weeks. Once I made it to three weeks and it was hell taking them down. I realize this is a good style for me, I'm just looking for some extra tips.

What products do you use? conditioner and castor oil.

Do you have any extra tips? none that i can think of.

How long does it take for you to braid your natural hair?

How do you maintain this style? I co-wash my braids once a week with AO HSR con.

How long do you keep them in? 4 weeks. Tried 5 once and it was a matted mess.

What products do you use? I moisturize daily with my 5:1 water/AO HSR spritz.

Do you have any extra tips? 1. I do not shampoo my braids. I feel that the shampoo will not be full rinsed out. 2. I've experimented with different conditioners for co-washing my braids, cone-free is best as there is no build up so no matting. 3. I wear my braids in tucked in styles to protect the ends and prevent them from drying out; this also prevents SSKs.

I kept my last set in for 4 weeks

What products do you use?
I co-washed with tresseme Naturals and used rice brand oil to seal.

I also discovered that ecostyler was nice for defining the curls at the ends

They are a great method for retention! I suggest seaching for a pattern to frame your face and accounting for your natural thickness and density.

I made a recent thread on my first set and it has lots of inspiration from other LHCF member who wore box braids :yep:

I don't wash them that often, if at all, that's about it

How long do you keep them in?
Usually 2-6 weeks

What products do you use?
Worlds of curl activator gel+aloe gel to do them
To moisturize them after they are done I will use Worlds of curl comb out spray

Do you have any extra tips?
Try doing a brick pattern to make them look fuller.
I have tips some more tips here

I have'nt worn braids myself but these 2 ladies inspire me to try them as a long-term

@temfash - Thanks! :grin:

I spritz every day or every other day with spring water (sometimes adding a little aloe vera juice or commercial spritz), and then seal my ends with a butter/oil. Loosely bun or band for bed, and cover my head at night.

How long do you keep them in?

Without redoing them, between 4-5 weeks, I try to aim for 6 but never quite get there. I braid quite tightly so the braids themselves don't get excessively fuzzy, but the roots obviously fuzz as my hair grows. Sometimes I take them down one by one, rebraid my whole head, and go another month.

What products do you use?

I don't always use products for doing the braids - I do like the QB Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee for this. For sealing my braids my staples are Qhemet butters/or CTDG, but I'm trying out a few others.

Do you have any extra tips?

Have fun with them, you can do a lot of different styles with minibraids depending on your hair length, or on the other hand be as boring as you like (bun every day). Just be sure to still DC and moisturise and seal, and every time you take a set down, you can be guaranteed retained length.

(As with loose hair) just be careful not to manipulate your ends too much or do ponies too tightly, and when it comes to takedown, make sure you lubricate your hair before you start and be patient It takes me 2-3 days to put in a set, and the same amount to take it down, I just can't manage it all in one, I get tired, frustrated and then my gentle handling goes out the window. (If you'd like to see, visit to my YT channel -link in siggy- and watch video number 21 - I pretty much use the same takedown technique I use in that video). Best of luck!
