Someone on TLHC posted a picture of a similar style... it was part of her costume for a Dr. Seuss celebration. She used a 2 litre soda bottle to hold the hair up.

And that explains why her hair seems to be sorta rounded off as you get to the top of the ponytail, thanks for the explanation yamilee21
