Naturals And Banana Clips

I love banana clips! I keep spare ones in case one pops, I squeeze my hair together before placing it on so it doesn't pull my hair. The easiest way to place it in my hair is when my hair is wet. :yep:

ETA: Just realized the title says naturals and banana clips :perplexed oops! :look:

:lachen:So! It's all good!

I wear them vertically all the time. Thats the easiest. And I normally put it on when my hair's either wet or damp. But I've done it when it was dry and it still worked. I never knew other naturals had problems with the banana clip. :ohwell:

yes banana clips give me problems too. I thought I needed the larger longer ones, I don't want a pony tail look I'm kinda going for a mohawk type thing.

I only do the horizontally I can't seem to do it vertical. Perhaps not only is good quality you should consider but a bigger size as well?

I haven't worn myine in a while. Here is an old pic, a year ago.

I have THIS banana clip and it NEVER breaks. It is connected by ball closure which can be pulled apart and put back together without any issue.

Check out the picture in my signature. I used a black banana clip to achieve that puff. I put it in vertically.

I wear banana clips all the time since I BC'd at 20 months a few weeks ago. I have fine 3c & 4a hair so I like how full (and long) it looks with banana clips. The pic I attached is the result of a twistout on stretched hair gone wrong :lachen:The banana clip saved my life that day. :yep:

I have been using a banana clip for my buns for about 2 weeks now.

I first wash(or cowash) and deep condition hair
Apply my leave in and knee hi bun my hair for the first day
The second day I use my banana clip for the rest of the week.

I think I will try using my banana clip right out of the shower again. I think I tried this once before but I cant find results in my journal.

maybe my hair has to be longer to do it? maybe i can do it on soaking wet hair in the shower. i bought two a couple of months ago, and they just laughed at me for thinking i could use them. my hair is just too thick and coily.

Mostly I wear them vertically, but in the last couple of pics I was wearing it horizontally:

I use my banana clip in this video but the lighting's not great so, I'll try to explain:

I gather my hair together in my fist as though I'm going to put it in a ponytail and only capture the (already gathered) hair in the centre - trying hair from nearer the front would result in pain and just be too tight!

Please do a banana clip tutorial. I haven't used one because I'm afraid of it getting all tangled up in my hair, I don't know what kind of banana clip to get that can contain my hair and I don't know how to style it so I don't look like an 80's reject, lol.

OMG! I just typed this huge description and hit the close browser button by mistake:fistshake:! I have to breath deeply for a sec... woo saa ok, Here's what I do when using a bana clip. It is the only way I can get my natural hair in a banana clip.

1. smooth edges using product of choice (H20, lv in, gel, etc)
2. Gather hair into secure but not tight ponytail
3. twist ponytail upwards to form a ball making sure ends are away from any area teeth of clip may come in contact with
4. secure clip around ponytail holder
5. remove ponytail holder and redistribute hair evenly throughout clip (you may have to start this part off by using one hand to hold clip in place until hair is redistributed better)
6. fluff, shake, and go
Here's an old pic to show the thickness of my hair. This was a few months back.

Will do for sure!

I've worn banana clips vertically. Each time it takes several attempts and threats of throwing it across the room for it to give in and stay put lol...

Thanks for the tips guys! Gonna try putting one in tomorrow and will post it in the 'how are you wearing your hair today sticky' thread and this thread!

I need to get a new banana clip. I have the clear one. I had 2 black ones and a brown one but DD got a hold of it.

I wore one today in straight hair. I have problems with the clip popping open and breakage when it's curly but I was really happy with what I did today. My hair was straight but starting to revert and it was rainy so it was just a big fluffy puffy mess. I put a banana clip in vertically and fanned it out and got lots of volume all day.

Try getting your hair into a puff and then place the banana clip around it and once its secure remove the ponytail holder and adjust your hair so that its even. thats how ive done it in the past.

I said I was gonna put one in today,, but I'm gonna wrestle with that thing tomorrow. I just posted my hair in the sticky thread. Now that I think about it, my hair doesn't look full in a banana clip. I have the long ones.
