*raises hand*

I did that Sunday. Over the past year or so I cut from midback to now past the demarcation line so um...:look: that makes me natural for the moment.

At any rate I've got about 6 inches of hair....yay me.

This is by no means a 'I'm natral now' thread because I will relax at some point (when I'm through being lazy :look:) But I'm going to stay this way through the spring and summer. It gives me something different to do with my hair.

Y'all are gonna have to help me out in the styling department to get me beyond slapping on a headband (but then again I was always style challenged)

At any rate, I just wanted to put that out there because there will be lots of questions from me over the next 6 months. (y'all may wish I relax sooner than later:lol:)

a LOOOONG time ago. I actually enjoy cutting my hair for some reason which is why I try to stay away from scissors.

try some two strand twist outs, wash n gos, ummmm that's all I got I have about the same length and just became natural. lol

No, no, no, no, no, nevah, now way, no how. Too scared.'

Check out some of the threads showing natural styles there is plenty there to help you. Hair accessories are wonderful for natural hair in the summer, at least they have been for me.

Best to you on your journey though :)

Yup me too! I have started with a trim, then another, then a cut, and I just keep going. I have made a 6 month commitment not to trim/dust/cut or anything. It's actually working out. When the time period is over ( I extended it another 6 months in Jan ) then I will only do my s&d (search and destroys ) and call it a day. I don't ever wear my hair straight, so I am not concerned. I just needed to step back from the scissors so that I could get back to my goal length. Plus, I showed myself, that when I am super gentle with my hair and especially the ends, there's really not a "NEED" to trim, only to get the ssk that I can't take out with a pin or my fingers. My hair is thanking me!

Meeee!! lol, yeah i was a scissor addict until I started hiding my hair under a wig and I am so glad I did.

Thanks all.

I'm not seriously a scissor addict. I was going to dust the ends and the textures started driving me bonkers. It was like I was in a fog and just kept cutting:blush:

So um yeah... the scissors are officially being hid after this.

Ironically I just "dusted" my hair tonight! I am addicted to scissors.. one of the reasons I don't get carried away is because I'm still new at cutting and i'm afraid I might cut too much but I must say that I've always been pleased after my dustings.

OP, I hope you enjoy your new look for spring and summer !

I do. When I trim I tend to over trim, which is why I do it only every 6 months. lol

Congrats on being natural for now.

I can relate. I cut my hair to twa years ago. I did it all of a sudden & totally on a whim... just because I wanted to. I ended up being natural for 8 years after LOL. People asked whyyyy? Why did you go natural? Because I wanted to!! This past December I texlaxed. People asked whyyyy? Why did you relax?? Because I wanted to!!! I'm totally unpredictable with my hair lol. I like not being confined to any set of "rules" LOL! It's just hair.

....:look:...i'm cutting my hair for the third time today...about 3 inches off...I always get to APL (or slightly above or below APL) and chop chop...i have a serious problem, my roommates think that I am crazy (and I kinda agree).

One day I will get to WL, but not today. I just love freshly cut ends or a new haircut. Its so convenient!

I want to see a picture of your hair!!
I imagine that it's really pretty! :)

I'm working up the courage to actually snap a picture. I'll try to get some this weekend. Hubs is VERY happy. He loves it. I told him don't love it too much!

I did finger combing this morning. That was pretty easy to do. Whats been driving me nuts is that after I do my hair and its looking all nice, about mid day it looks shrunked up :ohwell:

The other thing is I guess I have 3c all through my head, interspersed with the 4a/b. ugh! now you know that dosen't look good at this point. It all wants to clump together...looking like cats been sucking in it:lol:

It'll change when its longer but its at a pretty awkward stage.

the hardest part will come in when try to braid this stuff (I can't braid y'all).

I'm really enjoying the process though...this is what i needed (I had become quite bored with my hair)

YAAAAAS!! I'm *heart* Cartman (Wha'eva I do what I WANT!) I do that, too. I change my hair when I feel like it. I cut it, color it, relax it, whatever. My hair changes when the mood strikes. My Gemini tendencies manifest in my hair. LOL

i don't think so i did used to be obsessed with trimming and i always trimmed 2-3" no dusting for me.

I am afraid that's what i will do this june when i trim, i'm not ready to end my transition but i have a feeling i'll be like let's just cut it all off.

op i think you should post some pics too.

Last week I started off with a S&D. One side was longer than the other so I cut 1/4th inch, still uneven so I ended up cutting off 2 1/2 inches. On one side my ends were smooth and silky, the other side was rough and uneven so I cut the shorter side too. I'm going to hide my scissors for a while.

FlowerHair since you asked, I took some pictures. They look terrible...:ohwell::lol:

I took these sitting in my office

First, the stretch test. It compacts a lot after it dries.

And look at all this craziness?

The strands aren't relaxed hair. Some of them are straight/wavy all the way to the root, so go figure about that one. They feel rougher than my other hair so I'm figuring that the type 4zzzz hair? Then some of them are silkier and have a very loose curl. I pulled my hair up for the picture and they stayed that way for a little while. (I hope it dosen't tangle up, that would suck)

My hair isn't wet in any of these pictures....totally dry. I did have to use the flash though.

I have some crazy textures. Oh and I learned something, when my hair dries and clumps up, um...I need to like run my hands through it once or twice because it clumped so weird it looked like I had bald spots. :nono:

The other thing is the amount of product I use. Since I have less hair I can't use anywhere NEAR what I used to. Found that out yesterday as I ran around with white hair half the day:lol: Lucky for me, I didn't see anybody except at the gym.

Arcadian look at that sheen!! :D Thank you for posting pics.

I think most naturals have those straight/wavy hairs that stick out from the rest lol! I have them too! The way I deal with them is to scrunch them up with water + hair product and hope that they blend in.

Your hair looks baby soft and beautiful!! Can you take a pic of the whole head?

I did this several times. Last year I meant to trim some heat damaged parts but ended up cutting it from mbl to sl in a month! It gave me a high feeling :drunk:. Then I tried to give myself some layers in December well...........that did not come out right:nono:

yep, i am scissor happy:grin:. if it doesn't feel or look right to me i will just chop it!!!! and i use to proper trim every month religiously! no wonder why i have never been pass shoulder lenght!
