Whisper "bleep boop" to yourself when you're sad.
I need a trim, but I want to do it myself (anti-stylist) So I just did a search and found a good number of members have used Feye's method, but all of the members who did it were BSL or longer. Has anyone between SL and APL done this method with success?

I plan on using this method today to get rid of these splits and give myself a ''U'' shape. But if no one with medium length has had success, I gotta find another way :ohwell:

TIA!

I am about an inch short of APL and I use her trimming methods with much success. I use the U shape and I'll be doggone if I don't have a perfect U shape in the back

Thanks FindingMe! Your hair looks beautiful and the cut looks great! Is that the regular or deep ''U''?

I had my head straight up (really more so that I could look in the mirror and not really to affect the deepness of the U), so I guess it's in between...

This method is definitely a keeper! I just did it-cut about an inch or less- and it was sooo easy! First I applied Fantasia IC heat protectant (GREAT stuff, made my hair smooth, bouncy and shiny!) to my dry hair, then I flatironed with my baby, FHI. Took me about 10 minutes, and I had dh help me out with the scrunchie and cutting in the back, so about 15 minutes all together!

Finally my ends aren't tangly anymore, and I can comb through my hair without the comb snagging the ends! I think my ends were causing more breakage than normal, because when I run my fingers through my hair post trim, I don't have any broken hairs :yay:

And all it cost me was 10 bucks :yep: (the price of the shears I got from Sally's)

The great news is that I was APL, I didn't even know it! All this time I didn't think I was there yet, but I was! :woohoo: I'm a little bummed that I'm not there anymore, but oh well, I'll get there again by my next relaxer :D

The only downside was that I used my bootcamp pass by flatironing and trimming, so my punishment is to take a two-day hiatus from LHCF :cry3: What is I'm gon do without LHCF? :(

See you all in a few days!

I might want to try this...I saw this a little while ago, but I'm scared!

My hair grows in a V/U shape and it's almost APL so I might be able to do it.

I've been using her method for the last 2 years. It works every single time. This month, I cut my hair into a deep U/slight V.

Sareca, you posted a video tutorial for a ponytail trim a while back. Do you remember that? I'm trying to find it. It was very easy....just pull your hair up to the top of the head in a ponytail and secure with a scrunci. Pull the ponytail up and over, making sure it's as straight as possible (I secure the pony with scruncis going all the way down to make sure it stays in place). Use fingers to mark cutting line and trim the end of the ponytail. It's actually very similar to the first step of Feye's method but it eliminates the U or V detail cut. I like mine blunt so it works for me...one step and easy. :yep:

I'm APL and I've used Feye's successfully. I plan to use it again next week when I self-relax.

I actually used the method on two wigs that were too long for my tastes and it worked great on both!

I really want to do this when I straighten later this week. I wanted to wait until I reached my final goal but I just adore that U-shape!
But maybe I should wait because if my hair grows back unevenly, I will have lost length for no reason and will have to keep cutting it to maintain the shape.
Has anyone else cut like this before reaching their goal and been able to maintain it without having to continue to cut?

I cut mine in December and I still have the same U-shape going. Granted it's only been 3 months but, so far so good. Maybe you can cut it now and then promise yourself not to cut it again until you reach your goal, that way you won't lose too much length from constantly cutting to maintain the perfect shape. HTH

I love this method for trimming! I used it last month and will be using it again this summer (if I need a trim) my husband couldn't believe i'd done it myself when I walked back into the room. I cut a probably a little less than 2 inches off the longest "layers" right after I took my avatar picture. I have a nice U DH says it looks pretty blunt but he is a man *rolls eyes*

Nice! I will decide then if that's what I want to do because I want to claim APL next month and I think I'll only be able to cut off like 1/4" to do so since I just trimmed last month, in which case, I don't know if I want to chop off a couple of inches for the shape.
I really just want my bottom layer to be nice and neat.

I did this method too in January, it worked really well and I'll do it again when I next touch up.

I have a question...
When you all are trimming the tips after parting or when using the ponytail holder, how much are you trimming? Has anyone ever been able to trim a tiny bit, like .25-.5" and still get a shape?
I only plan to do my back layer and really want to lose the least amount possible. I guess the straight-across trim would be my best bet then?
I want the U-shape though....
