hold on, hold on, lol. Who said I was upset or stressed? Just because I express my dislike for the song... I have to be upset? I don't like the song. I think it's unoriginal, not at all creative, mindless, & dumb. They had an opportunity to send a positive message about being natural and they dropped the ball. I have the right to not like it, thank you :yep:

You are right. You do have the right to not like it. It's one thing to dislike the song it's another to interpret the song as a put down to relaxed heads.

Um... The song does put down relaxed heads. Blatantly :look: That may not have been the intent, but it is what it is.

That's your interpretation. I stated an alternative interpretation in my original post. The vid even states it's not a put down of relaxed heads and based on what I heard I agree that it isn't.

You have the right to your opinion, and I respect that. I just don't see how stating that relaxed women don't love their hair and comparing their use of relaxers to a crack addiction could be interpreted as anything but a put-down... but that's just me. If the video did not put down women with relaxers, they wouldn't have felt the need to have the disclaimer at the end in the first place. That disclaimer reminds me of a person who blatantly says ignorant and racist things, but follows it all with "...but what I've said isn't racist because I have [insert race] friends." LOL! :look:

...And as for the statement that this thread has "gone off the deep end".. I disagree. I mean, really... People can't have opposing opinions? Everyone has to hold hands and skip around in a thread or it's doomed? Can one really expect everyone to agree in a tread about a video... that insults the hair practices of some women....posted in a hair forum?? lol! People are bound to have opposing views and that's ok.

That sounded a hot mess! Country/autotuned hot mess.

somebody just hit me up when it's gif time

You missed it. They've already started :lachen:

Lord have mercy...It's just HAIR! And this is coming from a chic who LOVED (past tense! lol) her relaxed hair but is getting tired of the drama and will be cutting it all off in about a week or so!

BTW, the video sucked!

Yes, It's just HAIR... And this is a HAIR forum... Perfect place to express opinions about a HAIR video :) Speaking of opinions, I agree with yours. Totally sucked ;)

I don't like it. The message it sends is "If you relax your hair that means you don't love it!"

Uhm...yeah. It is packed with negative connotations towards relaxed heads so no...not feeling it!

She's not saying women with relaxed hair don't love their hair. She's talking about how people with relaxed hair say that they love your natural hair but in the same breath say "But I would NEVER go natural. I'm addicted to that creamy crack". i.e. my mother

Relaxed ladies on here don't really talk like that..they just have their preference.

eh, I guess you got me there lol. it is a HAIR forum after all LMAO :lachen:

But yeah I'm fairly new to this who relaxed/natural debate (not saying there's one on this thread but about the video and other threads/websites, etc.) and it's stupid. people have preferences. I've been stuck on the "creamy crack" for years, and I loved it. But after a botched relaxer 2 weeks ago (aka my hair falling out on just about 1/3 of my head) I've just decided to call it quits.

I have mad love for all my relaxed heads out there, but I'm making the switch to natural to see if my hair likes natural better. So to me the video serves as a moot point.

Well since I'm the one who made the comment about the thread going off the deep end, I will say this: just like you can express your opinion about your dislike of the video, I can express my dislike for the direction this thread is going in...its a free country and ipso facto, a free board.

Alot of relaxed ladies refer to relaxer as creamy crack. I've never known anyone to be offended by that. It just seems you are going hard over something silly and trying to find negativity when there isn't any. The reason the disclaimer is at the end of the vid is because some people are extremely sensitive when it comes to the natural vs. relaxed issue. Any little thing gets them riled up even when that is not the intent.

You have a right to your opinion and your own interpretation. But the way you interpreted the vid is not the only way to interpret it. Just because you see it as a put down doesn't mean that it is or was intended to be.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll be skipping this one........:ohwell:

I only watched for about a minute - it got boring. But to each hisorher own.

Will I be able to keep my nappy card if I say I didn't like it?

I've had a nappy card since ... most of my life. I don't use it. It's kinda like a charge card you have for a store where you never shop. Hair is hair.

Hello, friend. I didn't personally attack you or accuse you of "going hard" or "trying to" anything. In fact... I said that I respect your opinion. So... maybe (just maybe...) you could find it in your capacity to respect mine. The term "creamy crack" has always offended me. You mad? :look: Well, I'm sorry if I don't see crack in a positive light. You won't change my opinion and, quite frankly, you shouldn't want to. Please don't lose any sleep over it. Let's just agree to disagree... because it seems as though you cannot have a healthy debate without getting personal.

@ SS if you love your hair and happy with your choice then the video shouldn't bother you! I couldn't care less what video a relaxed head makes because I'm happy with my decision. You have been here long enough to know that relaxed vs natural threads are some of the livest!

I do love my hair and in a perfect world we could say that words dont hurt and I could careless what someone else says but we dont live in that world.

When someone says I dont care about my hair that says something about my character which is untrue. Ex. Women have been called out of there names and they know they are not a female dog and yet they are offended or how about when we as a people are called ni**a we get offended so with all do respect I am offended.

Oh and yes I know the debate is the livest still does not make it right.

My thoughts are a bit scattered but I hope you get what I am saying.
