I'm getting ready to order my relaxer. Affirm FB has been good to me. Last year I deviated from it :nono: because of last minute events and I did not have time to order old faithful. I have 4b resistant, texlaxed hair. I stretch anywhere from 12-24 weeks. Please share your experiences with either or both of these two relaxers. Which would you recommend and why?

STEP AWAY FROM THE BUTTERBLEND! Please for the love of hair never go near tht stuff. I've never used Fiberguard but whn I first started on my hhj I ordered some butter blends off line. The first time I used it it underprocessed me yet somehow managed to burn the hell out of my scalp. I had severe brakage, and my hair was matting together. The second time I used it it corrected the underprocessed parts but the matting and tangles were intense! All the deep conditioning in the word could stop the tangles and matting. I used it 1 more time b4 I threw tht stuff away and started my transition. Then to find out there are a bunch of us who had the exact same problem after using butter blends. If I ever relax again, Im going with Affirm.

Some people swear by the butter blends but I definately am not one of them

Good luck!

Butter blends is only good if you have normal density hair throughout your entire head. It will not relax you bone straight. I only have normal density from the crown forward so the reg BB worked fine there. HOWEvER in the back NO NO it left my hair texturized I did not realize this until after my first wash when I started relaxing again. When I did my TU using the reg my hair was a mess even though I left it on for 30 mn and smoothed 3x. I then moved up to the Super in BB and I have to smooth 4x in order to get my hair the way I want in the back, I leave it on for about 20 min. I am left with a slight wave. I cant use the super straight up in the front because it gets me bone straight so I dilute it with something and then I am left with the texture I prefer. My hair is 4ab

I used Fibergaurd years ago and it left me texlaxed in the back and bone straight in the front. My stylist would go back and forth btwn the lye and no lye. I do know when she was using the no lye for an extended amount of time I was left with dry hair. I will never use no lye again.

If you have different densities throughout your head it will relax you differently like it did for me.

If FG worked for you I would suggest sticking with it.

Myjourney, good point. I do not have normal density as I have thinning around my halo. I like texlaxed hair because of the fullness, preservation of elasticity, and overall health of my hair.

You know Affirm FB left my hair straighter in the front too. Mmmmm, somthing to think about. I should go back to the half and half method.

My hair is prone to matting toward the end of my stretch. So thanks for your feedback.

Girl, get yourself some Taalijah Waajid Protective mist bodifier. This will stop all that matting in its tracks. The same thing use to happen to me until I found this life saver. I apply it after conditoning and then again 3 days later.

I dilute it half/half with distilled for the front because the hair is not as dense there;for the back I use it straight up.

Run and get it fast and tell me how it works for you.

Wow. Thanks. Never heard of that product. Where do you pick up yours from?

ETA: found it at www.beautyofnewyork.com where I order from all of the time.

I was reading her bio and her headquarters are right here in Atl. There's a Whole Foods about a mile up where I can pick some up.

I hate the Mizani also and i kept wondering why my hair was not getting straight and then it became damaged and i had to keep cutting off hair. Now i am back to SL and requesting the affirm.

same here, I was using Affirm no lye for the longest, decided to switch to lye MBB and had bad breakage and had to get a 2-3 inch cut. If I ever relax again I'll stick with Afirm no lye.
