Has anyone ever heard of these and how do you do them?

I'm thinking they are maybe two strand mini twists that are then finger coiled. Pics courtesy of Uncle Funky's Daughter.

whenever i did my mini twists they looked like that after i washed them.

Looks like she just twisted her hair and sprayed some water on them to let her ends curl up. She also could've used some type of gel and just twirled the ends around her finger.

That's exactly how my two strand twists look. I always do them straight after washing my hair so the moisture is probably what makes them curl up slightly.

My twists look like that after I let water run over them in the shower. They probably added a little product to the ends and finger rolled them.

Looks like twists done loosely then washed so that the hair shrinks and the ends just coil naturally taking the form of the owner's hair pattern.

Malia Obama's hair has a looser coil so her results of the same look like this:

I don't do my twists loosely because I stretch my hair and twirl it firmly as I twist (clip) so shrinkage doesn't affect the body of the twists after a wash:

...but the ends do take the form of my hair's coil pattern:

Yes I believe you're right. They added some Curly Magic I think and then the Exta butter. I wonder if they stayed moisturized looking once they completely dried . In the pics it seems like they might still be wet.
Love your twists BTW.

Malia's hair is gorg! Nonie do you use anthing on your hair after you rinse your twists to keep them defined and from frizzing?

That's her hair texture....from my experience, the biggest help though as suggested already is to do them on wet hair. Also, they are mini twists. The smaller they are, the more your coily texture shows through (if you have one) Also use a gel (I love curl activator gel).

Here are a two sets of my mini twists:

You would have to do them smaller than these:

No I do not. I have recently started putting S Curl on the ends in an effort to take better care of them but my preference is to have nothing on my twists at all. I twist with nothing on and usually CW immediately after twisting because I find them looking neater after a wash:

All the pics you've seen of my twists have been of bare twists (example). I would just CW if they felt dry or just before styling them because they are more pliable when they are damp, and then I baggied nightly. That seemed to keep them moisturized.

They do get frizzy after many washes but I actually don't mind it at all. I've always associated fluff with softness so the just look soft to me when they are frizzy. This was after 8 washes:

Hair envy over here! My twists only look that good until after the first wash! And by that good I mean what yours look like after 8 washes!

If you don't twirl your strands about their axes before wrapping them around each other, then they may get frizzy quicker. And when you twirl, do it in the same direction for both and then wrap them around each other in the opposite direction. (See arrows in image below)

I've seen some people twirl one anti-clockwise then the other clockwise, and then just wrapped them in one of those directions. I don't think that gives as good a twist as twirling them both in the same direction then wrapping them in the opposite direction.

What you will find doing it this way is the twist just seems to form itself as you twirl the strands...like it's the most natural thing for your hair to do. I also find it keeps the strands parallel if you smooth and stretch the strands before you twirl.

I tried to do a slow demo in this clip: YouTube - Two Strand Twists--My Way

That's a good illustration there Nonie. I guess I should pay more attention the the direction of the twirl and then the direction of the twist. You make twisting look so easy and effortless.

That's exactly what I do Noni. I think I just have fuzzy prone hair. When I do it that way, my twists don't shrink up so quickly, but they are always fuzzy no matter how I do them.

Looks like my twists... which I do wet and then add olive oil ecostyler on the end and roll the ends with the really small perm rods (blue)...

Really? You must use lot of rollers if your twists are as small as the pics unless you are putting more than one twist on each rod. I best it looks great though.

Yeah it does take a lot of them...but they are only like 1.00 at Sally's and I've acquired several over the years..lol They take a while though to get them that small...
