So...My hair broke off!! Like 2-3 inches of new growth just randomly broke off, and I am so disheartened...What the frick am I supposed to do now?! Suggestions?!

Did you switch up products, try a new technique, alter your regimen in any way?

Your hair didn't break off for no reason. It's unhappy about something....

I don't really know...the only thing that I did recently was use Aphogee, which is a protein treatment, but I've used it at least 3 times and nothing bad happened, in fact, I think the strength of my hair improved...Other than that, I didn't follow my usual regimen for about a week but that wouldn't cause breakage that quick would it? :perplexed

Maybe you did too much protein and not enough moisturizing your have to have a balance or protein and moisture. The protein does make your hair stronger but the moisture keep it soft too much of both is bad for your hair do the strand test and see what your hair is telling you listen to your hair and your gonna be fine :yep:

How are your iron levels?? When I was bordering on anemia my hair used to break off all the time. You might need to work on your hair from the inside out

Did you use the Aphogee 2 step (the one that makes your hair really hard)? And if you did, did you follow up with a really moisturizing DC?

You probably overloaded on protein and your hair is letting you know it.:yep:

Sorry about your loss. Your 2-3 inches will be in my prayers.

For me, it would. And then adding protein, (without a good moisturizing conditioner afterwards) would be murda. Snappage left and right. Again, in my case.
:naughty:

What steps in your regimen did you skip?

No way. Your hair didn't just randomly break off. Hair is a fiber and can't just randomly break unless it's extremely dry or a considerable amount of force is applied to it.

It's like a piece of string. It you left a piece of string on the floor and didn't do anything to it ... would it randomly break?

The easiest way to figure this out is to think about what YOU possibly did that could have led to breakage. Just be honest with yourself. Don't say I don't know ... come up with possible scenarios. Because at the end of the day, only you really know what's happening with with your hair. The rest of us can only guess and it could be a one of a plethora of reasons.

List what you think is going on, then people can guide you from there.

I agree that when our hair breaks off it happens for a reason but I also know that it's possible to have breakage and not really know why. I have experienced what seems to be random breakage in one area but my hair is still retaining length! I'm not doing anything to that one are that I'm not doing to the rest of my hair. I have yet to figure out the cause. I suspect I will have to allow my doctor to look into the matter however I'm not at all interested in a scalp biopsy which was what one doctor recommended before.

I really hope that WE are able to find out the cause of our hair woes.. hhg!
