I feel as though I'm manipulating my hair too much with the nightly twisting, just so that I can have a twist out the next day...not to mention the time it takes doing it every night.

How do you guys wear your hair on the day-to-day?

I try to switch it up...twist outs, hats if I can, puff ponytail and wash n go. I am also trying to learn how to rollerset my hair.

Twists and flat twists/twists combos most of the time....

You should tie you hair up at night with either a du-rag, or satin scarf to keep the style through out the week. Doing daily twist and twist-outs is too much manipulation.

When you do twist outs, do you do them on wet hair? I do and my twist out last for around 3 days without having to re-twist them. At night I add a bit of moisture, oil, slap my scarf on, call some hogs/saw some logs (sleep), and get up the next day fluff n go. Make sure to keep your ends moisturized. I love oil but lately I've revisited a light grease and so far so good.

If you feel that you're doing too much manipulation, you could always wig it, braid it, or flat twist. :yep:

This!! But in addition to that, I have learned to do some fairly decent two-strand flat twists and put my hair back into a faux bun, like so.

The actual "bun" is really just my hair pulled into a tiny ponytail. I then wrapped it with a long satin scarf to give it a more bun-like appearance. This style can last for at least a week if I use a bit of gel on my roots when I twist. Then I can wear the twist-out for another few days. I don't car about my twist-outs getting fluffy so I don't redo them every night. I just wear a satin bonnet over them.

HTH!

I usually wear mini twists for a week to a week and a half and then a twist out for the 2nd week. I do retwists my twists out and I can maintain it for a week by just wearing a scarf at night. As ladies above have stated, wrapping it helps to maintain it without requiring manipulation in the morning.

You're right. I think it's why my hair hasn't progressed as much.

You can do twists on wash day and wear them for about one week. Then you can wear a twist-out for a few days. Remember to moisturize and seal your ends each day. You can band the twists if you want to show more length.

I did a lot of fingercoils at that length. It was pretty easy to do and they would last awhile without me having to do much of anything to it at night besides tie it down.

I'm SL, which is still quite short IMO. What I've recently started doing is twisting my hair once a week after washing my hair. I need to twist my hair in order to stretch it out long enough to fit into a ponytail. Halfway through the week I undo the twists and wear the twistout in a ponytail.

This week I'm gonna flat iron instead, for something different :)

Some style suggestions

Cornrows with/without extensions
Cornrows w/ a wig over top
Cornrows/Flat Twists in the front with a puff in the back
Cornrows/Flat Twists in the front with twists in the back
Twists (NO twistouts...just rock the twists)
Finger/Comb Coils
Kinky Twists/Box Braids
Full Weave

**Maybe just get a PS until Winter is over.**
