Has anyone experienced a NATURAL hair color change? Is this normal? [PICS]

I'm thinking lighting or product. Sometimes my hair looks lighter or darker when straightened depending on my technique and products used.

Also, depending my the products and air drying vs. diffusing my hair looks different in color when I wash and go.

I want to apologize in advance because I have no idea about the color change, but GIRL...your hair is :love3: :love3: :love3:

You use a shampoo with 3% Salicylic Acid) about 2-3 times a week, that will do it. lemon juice which is acidic can lighten your hair as well, so that salicylic acid is the most likely culprit.

Before I joined hair boards my hair was badly damaged due to negligence and lack mouisture and misuse of heat it changed from dark brown to light brown

Also do any of your products contain citric acid or have you used lemon juice?

If not, guess its just a natural occurrence maybe from the sun as you mentioned

Do you deep condition? You didn't mention you do? The pics have finally loaded ... your hair looks very nice AND healthy ... I truly don't think you've got anything to worry about. Maybe for reassurance you should buy your self some conditioner and shampoo with built in spf factor/protection

I'd say sunlight with the acid or even the flash on the camera if they are different cameras. Your hair looks healthy. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yes, when I was permed my hair turned from off-black (1b) to a chestnut brown with "reddish" areas. People always asked if I highlighted my hair...nope...I have never colored my hair--ever. I don't know what caused it to look that way. Now that I'm natural, my hair color is back to off-black (1b).

Yeah this reminds me of a girl I went to school with .. Her hair was relaxed and light brown but her roots were alot darker till.she relaxed ... Within a few weeks the colour changed. What gets me though is she used to brag saying look.at my light brown hair ... None of you have light brown hair .. I'm just special .. My nans from australian :s lol even before I.got interested in haircare I knew her hair was just damaged ... soon after it was above ear length ... :l

I think you could be right! But I use the shampoo (w/ SA 3%) for my scalp only. I guess when it gets washed off some product sticks to the strands. Is this damaging to my hair? Should I stop using it? It has done wonders for my scalp which has stopped the itching and horrible dandruff I developed last year.

Can you coat the length of your hair with conditioner or oil before you use the SA product? That way your scalp gets the treatment but your strands have a barrier on them??? Not sure how this would work, just a thought.
