Update: OK, watched it--@ MyAngeleyes, Thanks again for the link.
My take-home message from that video:
- Reniece understood and accurately described the effects of BKT on previously (chemically) treated treated hair: the effects are more dramatic than on virgin hair.
- From the description of her symptoms, she might be one the minority of individuals with chemical sensitivity to formalin (AKA formaldehyde) which might explain her strong reaction.
- She's rightfully concerned about the effect of prolonged occupational exposure to the fumes. Being exposed to strong chemicals at work everyday is a serious matter.
- She had fun producing the video (the mask!)
- Her hair is always beautiful (that color!)--coiled up or stretched out
That said, there's so much misinformation about the true nature of the chemicals, and the hazard they pose it wears me out. Yes, there are some serious potential hazards associated with the use of BKT but these can be minimized.
I've done my research, I've assessed the risks, and I take reasonable precautions to minimize my exposure and reduce potential hazards. Anyone who doesn't fully understand what they're dealing with or feels uncomfortable with the process is right to stay away from the stuff.
Me? I luv me some BKT!
P.S. What? No bun drop?!
... and these crazy people having sex with the chicken that they later sell to us for consumption.........
