I have wheat germ oil sitting in my closet and my gawd does that stuff stink. I want to incorporate it in my reggie though b/c its rich in cermides but i have no idea how to use it.

From what i read, it is supposed to help your hair retain moisture better. Am i right about that? Please let me know if im wrong

Should i oil rinse with it? Should i add it to my dc? I really dont want to seal with it b/c of the smell. How often should i use it?

I am really interested in hearing this b/c it will come in handy. Thanks!

I keep all of my oils in pumps and add a pump of this or that to my conditioners. Normally its wheat germ oil or any other oils I have on hand.

I add it to my DC's or use to pre-poo. Its funny that you say it smells because I've never noticed a smell before hmm... :scratchch

I put it in my DC's and pre poos. Sometimes I use it to seal... the smell goes away after a little while.

Thanks for starting this thread OP...
I recently started reading about ceramides too. I wasn't too sure on what way to go about incorporating them into my reggie. Since some people say it smells really bad, I'm thinking about just using it for a prepoo so that I can wash the smell away (if it's that bad). If I can handle the smell, I'll go ahead and add some drops in my DC.

I put it in my hair dressings (Bee Mine-Luscious), and my deep conditioners. I keep a bottle of grape seed and safflower oil to apply a drop to my ends in between shampoos.. Oh and I clarify often to prevent product build up. It does make a difference.:yep:

I bought an application bottle from Sally's with the ounces listed on this side. I add an ounce of every oil I have. I fill the 9 ounce bottle easily with all my oils, most of them are cermides. I use this is my DCs and when I steam.

Your post caused me to look up the bolded's percentage. Safflower oil doesn't smell at all. I used it for styling before I even knew what ceramides were just because it's light weight and I have fine hair. It seems that it's 78% rich in ceramides, and wheat germ oil is like 50%.

I purchased my wheat germ from Vitamin Shoppe - it was not refrigerated nor did the label indicate that it needed to be.

Since I wash my hair twice a week, I will apply a mixture of grapeseed, castor, and sunflower oil to my hair and put it in a bun overnight. I wash my hair the next day, it actually pretty light so I usually wash my hair when I get in from work because my hair does not look greasy. For my second wash of the week, I apply Hot six oil and aloe vera juice mixture to my hair and leave it in for about 20 minutes then wash my hair. I use to leave the Hot six oil overnight as well but I am starting to dislike the smell. I also use Silicon Mix as a deep conditioner.

I WGO as prepoo and add some to my DC. I didn't know WGO had only 55% of ceramides and I bought a large bottle. I have to get safflower oil as soon as this is gone.
