Has anyone had a blow out on short hair? Is it worth it? How much hair do you really lose during a blow out?

I have had a blow out and my hair is short EL on the sides and shorter in the back and it was good gave my hair lots of swang and I enjoyed it.. I didnt loose much hair at all

Short hair is easier to manipulate so if your hair is in good condition you shouldn't lose a lot of it.

I have!

I just wanted to see how much my hair had grown. Even though there's still a bit of hidden length in there, it was a pretty good summation of how much length I'd retained.

I didn't loose much hair at all! No more than I normally would loose in any pre-wash detangling session. I felt it was worth it, but I wouldn't recommend doing it too often. There are other ways to stretch the hair using little or no direct heat. :yep:

OMGEEZY! Your hair is so nice! Did you blow out on your own? What did you use as a heat protectant? How did you make it lay down like that? Also what type of dryer did you use? One with a comb, brush attachment?

I have hair that is about 4 inches in the longest area. I bc'd about 2 months ago and wear my hair straight often because of knotting issues. I actually had the back trimmed up a lot so that my hair would look like something. I don't love the current style but considering that it is my own handiwork I can live with it until it grows out.
Also I don't lose very much hair especially from when I was relaxed. M hair was always nice but after I would blow-dry and flat iron there were strands and broken pieces everywhere. I counted today and I had like 4 actual strands and maybe 6 broken hairs (which was my fault because I was rushing during blow-drying) which is not bad in my opinion. I have an FHI dryer and a hana elite iron. I use keracare but today I used CON and Silcon mix (which I think my hair does not like). HTH

Thanks!!

1. Yes, I did it myself.
2. I used TRESsemme heat tamer.

3. I was able to get it pretty straight, and then I just brushed it down with my Denman brush.
4. This is the dryer I used.

I ordered it from Amazon.com. That thing is GREAT for blow-outs! Doesn't have a cool setting though. Just medium and high heat. I used the blue attachment on medium heat. The blue attachment has teeth as well as boar bristles and can actually get through my thick hair. I tried the smaller black attachment with just the boar bristles, and :nono:

If you do decide to go ahead and blow your hair out, please don't forget to post some pics!

I have 4.5'' of hair some areas are a meger 5'', i personally have decided against blowing out/straightening because i want that surprise at my 1yr anniversary mark in April 2011. If and when u decide to straighten tho u might wanna try medium heat and not go too high just to have an idea of how much your hair can tolerate and remember to post pics.
