Ugh. So i bought a maxiglide iron and mini glide from ebay a week or so ago to save some money. I ended up paying $90 for both instead of the $120+ it would have cost otherwise. The seller described the item as 'New/Never Used' and the pictures looked great so i bid and won.
Well not only did the shipping take FOREVER but i got the items yesterday and they have DEFINITELY been used!!!!!:nono: There was hair in the brush!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lint on the pins of the iron, it looked dirty and the wire was damaged at the base. The mini glide was fine and both of them worked. I was so grossed out so i wrote to the seller to complain about the fact that she clearly lied about the condition. Ebay will give me my money back if i choose to return what i bought but it's SUCH a hassle for me and i'm so annoyed. I haven't straightened my hair in 5 years and i was really looking forward to doing it for Christmas. I'm just thinking if i return them i don't know if i'll get my money back in time to get another iron before Christmas. Plus i tested the mini glide on my edges and i really like it. Then again i spent $90 on something i thought was brand new and if i keep them i will feel like such a punk.

I would ask for a partial refund from the seller. If she refuses, then I would send it back and get a refund from PP/Ebay.

I truly feel your pain. Send it back and buy a new one. Be blessed today and try not to be stressed.

I would definitely send it back. The seller's description of the item was misleading

For future reference; this is why you always check the sellers rating/feedback before purchasing. Im just sayin. *hugs*

You might have to get your money back through Ebay, but try and work it out with the seller first. :yep:

I did check this and she had 100% positive feedback:sad:

thanks guys, the seller says that all returned items must be returned with 3 days of receiving them. But i just opened a case with Ebay buyer protection and they say to wait 7 days for a response from the seller. Should i just send the item back to the seller today (my local P.O closes in 30 minutes) or should i wait like Ebay says?

Buy it from hsn look for the coupon codes. I paid 67 for my maxi and mini glide combo on hsn brand new. You got stiffed.

hsn don't even sell the miniglide anymore:nono: i've only seen it on Amazon and at other stores for 29.99 +

i really got stiffed.

You would trust the seller over the buyer's protection? That wouldn't be smart.

Follow the ebay instructions. If the seller askes you to close the case and send it back, DON'T DO IT! If you do, you will not be able to open it again and you'll lose your money and you're items!

There's a lot of crooks out there.

I just checked for you and see it is sold out. I think we cleaned them out last year. LOL

lol dang! If anything i might keep the mini glide and ask for a partial refund. Then just buy the maxiglide new from hsn in 2 payments. At least then i'll have some kind of warranty. *sigh* i have learnt my ebay lesson....

Call ebay on the phone (they have a number) and ask them if you still have to pay for the return shipping even though the seller is at fault. Sometimes ebay will give you the shipping out of their pockets. They have given me my full refund before, and another time, they paid for my return shipping.

Send her the flat iron back...get $40 from somewhere and buy this on flexpay

and by the time you get your refund you will only have to pay $40 next month which gets you a NEW flat iron (with lots of extras) in a couple of days and allows time to have your money and hair "did" by xmas.

:(. I'm sorry this happened to you. There are a eBay sellers that make it so much harder for us honest sellers.

In this instance I'm glad you opened a case. Intentionally saying something is new when it is clearly used and they trying to play the 3days only for returns is a big nono.
And I'm sure she wasn't surprised.

I almost had to open a case cause someone sold me a counterfeit perfume on eBay. eBay is awesome at protecting us customers!

But sellers are often slighted (I sell dresses/skirts and I had a customer open a case against me because I would exchange her skirt. My listing said no exchanges, had a size chart and SHE ordered the wrong size and then started a case saying the item was not as described).
Oops....that was a tangent huh lol

eBay is good at solving customer problems!! Best of luck!!

Hopefully you took everyones advice and didn't sent it back to her. Did you purchase through paypal?

Do not send the items back to her. Email her and let her know her feedback was misleading, and that you want a full refund. Screw a partial refund!!

Wait for her response. If she is not willing, or do not respond to your email in 3 days, open up that claim with Paypal. Explain to them in full what the issue is. Send them the ad. Explain to them how you recieved the product.

Trust me, they will work with you. Just let them know how displeased you are with this seller misleading you! Good luck!

Oh, SAVE ALL EMAIL CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN YOU AND THE SELLER!!

UPDATE:
I opened a case with ebay buyer protection and they contacted the seller. She says she'll refund the full amount including the original shipping costs but i have to pay to ship it back to her and i have to send it by Dec 7. I left negative feedback and i'm just gonna do the flex pay on hsn and get a new iron....so much for saving money.

Thanks to everyone who responded!:-)

Good Answer, good answer (in the Family Feud voice)...In all seriousness, OP...I wouldn't pay $90 for something that is obviously used...I would be worried about how long it will last (since you said that the cord is worn)...Imagine paying $90 for something that lasts 2 weeks!

ETA: Good for you OP! Send that mess back!

See this is what would tick me off. You will be out of money for shipping costs to send it back to her. I would try to get all of my money back.

Sorry you had to go through this OP. I had a negative experience on eBay once where this seller claimed they shipped the product to me and even gave a fake tracking number, but I never received the product. I filed a claim with eBay/PayPal and got my money back.
Some of these sellers are full of it.

I agree with this. You've already sent a letter to the seller busting her on her BS. What good is keeping it if she's not going to take responsibility for what she did?
