So I went to have my hair taken down because I never have time, usually just one day a week if that. I paid this lady because I wanted to take it down quickly. I didn't realize it but she cut off like maybe 4 inches of my hair. I was almost shoulder length now I'm back to the length in my sig pic. All that hard work, gone. I mean what can you do if you're a busy student like me and you only have like one day off like every 4 weeks? Sorry for the rant, guess the moral of the story is take down your own braids!

I never trust anyone else to take down my braids when I wore them. I'm sorry to hear about your setback.

its water under the bridge but next time cut the ends of the extensions urself then let them just help u loose it out...y did she assume ur hair was that short anyway? People don't take their time..y the rush! (ranting with u)

WHOA...now that's crazy! Can people be sued for something like that? lol.

I am SO SORRY to hear about your setback, stories like this gives me chills! But yeah, I don't let ANYONE take down my braids, OR "trim" my ends. People are stupid.

Happy you were able to get the moral of the story though. On the bright side, this was a good lesson for you to learn NOW —while your hair is still in the neck/shoulder vicinity— instead of later...

so sorry this happened to you. was this woman at a salon? nothing wrong with needing help taking them down. cut them yourself next time, or someone you trust, then let someone help you unbraid.

Four inches?
I'm sorry that happened to you.. Don't give up though, you'll get your length back and more!

Thanks ladies, I really needed to vent! I'm far from calm, actually almost in tears. She assumed my hair stopped where my natural hair did since I hadn't had a relaxer in a year. I told her my ends were relaxed and she said she could see my hair but basically she cut off aaaaallllll the relaxed ends. Yes I did pay her, this was @ a shop believe it or not.

hmm..well the bright side is this could be a blessing in disguise. ur natural now! u got ur big chop.. I know u werent ready but this mite b a good thing:look:

Sorry this happened to you. I know how you feel.

Last Saturday, I asked my mother to cut my tracks to my weave out; and not only did she do that she cut my hair as well. She says she didn't know the long braid at the crown of my head was my hair. Besides, I didn't ask her to take down my hair but to just take out the weave.

I'm very sorry --- you're very calm...much calmer than I would be. One time I had braids, took them down and allowed my stylist to detangle (because she wanted to detangle my hair so that she could get my hair to a very good detangled state to make things easier for her PLUS she thought she could detangle it better than I could because I tangle a lot). Well, after she started detangling, she became frustrated and tired and starting snatching my head/hair and I lost a lot of hair due to breakage. That was about 5 years ago. I overcame that AND THEN HERE WE GO AGAIN...here recently I stretched to 16 weeks and my stylist didn't know how to deal with the ng and I lost some (a good bit) hair to breakage so I feel for you and know exactly how you feel....chin up....we can get through this.

You know, the funny thing is that I have like 8 friends and family members and in laws that are all natural, and they are actually happy for me. They've been very encouraging. It may end up being a blessing after all.

I had NO IDEA how common this is... you too? I'm so sorry.

Woooowww, this happens so much. I have come to the realization that I have no business putting in braids that I won't be able to take down myself.

Sorry this happened. I would suggest cutting the ends off yourself, before getting someone else to take them out. You can also take them out yourself gradually, depending on the style. I do this all the time with my kids. Start taking the back out and you can wear the braids back in a ponytail to cover it up. Just keep working on taking them out until you have a block of time to take out the front and sides.

I am going to agree with LilSparkle...If indeed she cut off the last 4 inches of relaxed ends, you are totally natural now! Was that your plan anyway? If so, let's turn this into a celebration! :congrats: on your BC and :welcome: to the Natural Side!!!!

GREAT idea. I used to do this, don't know why I stopped!

Thank you :) Well, I had joined the braid challenge and was enjoying my natural roots, my friends are excited for me.
