How long does Henna Last after color is released?

I mixed a batch of Henna and lemon juice last weekend and sat it in a corner of the kitchen to prevent the kids from messing with it.

My intentions was to let the color release overnight and use it in my hair the next day. I forgot all about it and found it under the sink last night, do you think I can still use it in my hair without all my hair falling out or my hair turning orange?

I'm al little confused about that too. I thought it depends on your original hair color. I never had orange hair after using henna .. it was more of a deep auburn, however my mother who uses it to cover her grays usually has coppery orange hair the first few days.

I read that at first the hair will seem to be a coppery color but after the 3 day oxidation period it will darken, if you used something acidic like vinegar or lemon juice.

FYI. You can't use it after it sits out for a week. when I went to stir it I found mold.

Next time put it in the freezer when you are not going to be using it soon.
