Crunchy Nape Hair??

Loc'ing Up!
Hmmm, I've been transitioning for 8 months now and my hair is a "joy" at this time

But seriously, I am entranced by it and cannot wait until the end of my journey. However, I am having trouble with my nape area. It is really dry..almost crunchy-like. I find myself playing in it because it is just interesting how dry and hard it is compared to the rest of my hair. I try moisturizing it, but perhaps I am not using the right product.

Now to my question--when my transition is over, will my nape hair always be like this? I wear my hair like my siggy pic the majority of the time (rod set/ straw set), and I wear braidouts, and braids. This is making the transition easier for me. I need a moisturizer recommendation that is creamy, not watery since these types of products would make these styles frizzy.

Any help?

My nape is crunchy too. Always has been always will be. I mean its not breaking or ne thing but the hair here is the thickest and kinkiest on my whole head. I was natural before and the texture didnt change once I big chopped. Now that Im natural I just pay this area extra attention since it does has a tendency to dry out b4 ne where else on my head. I use Elasta QP mango butter. Very creamy and def wont cause your hair to frizz.

How often do you DC? My hair used to be crunchy before I started DCing at least weekly with a good DC

I've always had issues with nape. When I was relaxed it didn't matter because my hair always covered it.

the chop has left me exposed :o
I recently started adding curl activator to my leave in. I also started using coconut oil as a pre poo/deep. That combination has really softened my nape and edges.

My nape and a couple of other areas of my hair were crunchy from relaxer overprocessing/scab hair. Those areas have since grown out (14mos post) and feel normal and soft. But yeah, if it's crunchy from damage then you just have to grow and cut until it's gone. Nothing I did to those areas changed how they felt: DCing, flat ironing, moisturizing nada just stayed extremely dry and crunchy.

I am almost 3 mos psot relaxer. My patch of unruly hair is a few inches above my nape. It is sooooooo coarse, dry and crunchy. This was the patch that grew the fasted and was least resistance to the relaxer.

I've had problems with my nape all my life and only now is the situation starting to turn around. The only difference? JUICING! I've been using Wave Nouveau on that area twice (sometimes three times a day) and the difference is crazy. The area is soft and no longer crunchy, plus it's finally beginning to grow in (slowly). The formula is a bit runny but it doesn't make my nape frizz. I LOVE my WN

I've always had nape issues (still do). I like to use leave-ins as a moisturizer for the area. GVP PM The Conditioner is my favorite (and it's creamy).
