Does water prevent conditioner from penetrating as well as it should? Because I used conditioner to detangle my hair while it was dry, I left the condish in, and rinsed in the morning and my hair was more moist than it ever was since I've been napptural!!! I think there's something to this! I think I've read this somewhere before!

Ha!! I did this....I dont like to add any water to my hair when doing this...if I have to I add very very little!!!! Its the biz-ness!!!

Dry conditioning is the best. I usually do this overnght and in the morning after I rinse out, my hair is moist.

I guess why its good to dc on dry hair is b/c i believe water prevents the hair absorption of the conditioner.

I do this all the time , its good because if you put the conditioner on dry hair it penetrates faster , if you have water in your hair the conditioner sits on top of the water and cant do as adequate a job and when your rinse , some of the conditioning properties it rinsed with it...may not work for everyone but this is what was told to me and I have applied it

But what if your hair already has oil on it? Will the oil prevent the condish from penetrating?

Exactly! Water molecules can be quite large so it only makes sense that they would be blocking the conditioner. Besides, I've noticed that when I've put conditioner on wet hair, sometimes it just mixes with the water and dissolves!!

After reading Sareca's post on "Don't sleep on Dry Conditioning with heat" I started doing it and my hair just loves it. I have always had a rough time with my nape area being extremely dry. After doing this, I have not had that problem. Dry conditioning is going to always remain part of my regimen.

I started deep conditioning on dry hair after I took my braids out the other day. My hair was thirsty and it sucked that conditioner right up and felt so good. I would definitely recommend this after you find the right conditioner.

I do this sometimes, but I feel DCing on freshly washed and towelblotted damp hair is best for me.

I've tried this for the first time last week and I've noticed a slight difference in my hair. I wasn't able to take it all in because i just relocated to FL and the humidity keeps me from wearing my hair down or doing too much to it to see the benefits.

I've done on dry and wet and I prefer wet.

both will work though.

Different strokes for different folks :)

quick question. when you DC on dry hair what do you do to your hair after shampoo? my hair always feels a little tangled and dry after shampooing.
