Ok...I ordered a hair steamer last week. And I have absolutely no patience. I just can't wait to recieve it especially since so many women have had great results with it. I used it once in the salon for an additional fee of 10 dollars and I loved it. Like I said I can't wait to receive it!!!

I am soooooooo with u OP.....I pre-ordered mine on 6/27....and I just got a message today that they got a ''surprise'' shipment over the weekend...so I should be getting mine in a few dayssss.....so excited I am annoying my SO with my lil happy dance...hehehe:yay:

I ordered mine from lclbeauty.com, it cost $99.77 free shipping! Saw the info on a post here. Just received it can't wait to try!
You didn't use the $10 off code? It's exoticmommies and would have cost $89.77 shipped. This info will probably help others, though.

And I can't live without mine. It's cut down a lot of time I spend on my hair....plus it has really made my DCs perform better. Prepooing with oils are a pure luxury now. Henna treatment - 1 hr only; no longer 4 - 6 hrs.

Whoo Whoo! I love my steamer. BTW, I got the PRO-1037A.

OP, I know you're going to use your steamer the day you get it.....I did; I couldn't wait!

I know there are a ton of threads already on this topic, but I don't feel like searching....so I have a few questions, do u ladies use it to prepoo on dry hair?, do u wash first then sit under with a DC?, do u think it works best for oils, conditioner or DEEP conditioners?....just want a few tips to get the most bang for my buck!...thanks in advance ladies!

Where did you order from and how much do they cost about?

i bought mine today!! hopefully shipment wont take a month!! i got mine from ebay and you can get the same one from salonsrus. i got the $99.99 with free shipping :drunk:. its cheaper because there are scratches on the hood but ill take the scratches if it means ill save up to $100 depending on the brand  its not like its affecting how it works!

I tried to use the coupon I must have done something wrong it did not take. I was so excited at the price I did it anyway. I got the PRO-150.

do u ladies use it to prepoo on dry hair? YES. I do a hot oil treatment using steam for 15 - 20 minutes on dry hair. Then wash w/shampoo.

do u wash first then sit under with a DC? I sometime wash 1st then sit up the steamer with my DC (I add JBCO and Moringa oil to the DC).

do u think it works best for oils, conditioner or DEEP conditioners? You can steam however you want to with whatever you want to steam with. Prepooing, regular conditioning, hot oil treatments, hennaing. I've also steamed after I've applied a leave-in and braided my hair. The steam is so gentle it does not burn my scalp.

This weekend I'm going to steam after I've applied a caramel treatment to my hair. Can hardly wait to try it.

My steamer arrived today. I came in from work to see it at the door. It's well over 100 degrees outside and just the thought of using it made me sweat. I did not even open it.

Thank you so much Pompous Blue....u basically cleared up any confusion I had about using a steamer....I really appreciate u taking the time out to answer so thoroughly, can't wait to get it now....hope the caramel treatment works great when u do it this weekend....let us know how it went, I might wanna give that a try too....THANK YOU AGAIN!!!!!

You're welcome.

I'm using justkiya's recipe from her blog:
http://www.nappydelphia.com/2008/02/caramel-treat.html
I figured since I'm about to do another one this weekend, it's high time I did my pictorial for the Caramel Treatment.

The recipe is:
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/4 cup red palm oil
1/4 cup shea butter
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup Apple cider vinegar
3.5 oz banana baby food
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup molasses
water (as needed to thin)

So. The original recipe called for Wheat Germ Oil, but I didn't have that, so I subbed the RPO instead, and it came out just fine.

I ordered from lclbeauty.com and it was 99.77 and I used the code exoticmommies so I paid 89.77. Still waiting....sigh OH and the shipping was free. And by the way if the code doesn't work, you can call, they have excellent customer service.

@ bolded: I bought mine from camdengrey.com. I'ts described as Palm red, butter/oil. We don't have any stores that carry these butters and oils where I live. I wish we did, though. Their shipping was very fast; like 2 days after I placed my order. Then Fed-ex broke a couple of bottles, didn't tell anyone and was chastised by camdengrey.com for their poor service (Fedex sent me an e-mail) and camdengrey resent me another order without me having to do anything.

So sorry.. but there is an advantage to the huetiful one...I think you can purchase the facial attachment that is an additional charge and it can be easily stored away. I wouldn't feel bad if I were you.

Okay, I have to admit that the steamer does seem to make an immediate difference. I steamed on dry hair for 10 minutes with Giovanni Smooth As Silk conditioner and rinsed in cool water. I used HE Totally Twisted conditioner on my wet hair along with coconut oil. My hair felt moist all day!! Even after it was dry it felt moist.

I steamed again tonight on clean hair (I used WEN Fig) and I used amy Whale Sperm conditioner (made with natural extracts, whale sperm oil and vitamin E) to steam for 20 minutes (2 intervals of 10 minutes). I added my Hawaiian Silky 14 in 1 leave in and sealed with coconut oil. I am hoping for the same results, moist hair all day even after it's dry. Hawaiian Silky does usually give me that effect but for the last couple of weeks (after my most recent BKT) my 14 in 1 has not worked the same.
