...which is better for your hair and why?

I am looking for a decent oil that I don't have to make myself (less time these days to make hair products!) and I stumbled across these two products in Sally's. Can anyone tell me which they prefer and why?

(I have visited the websites and the old posts from this site - there is nothing really new about these oils)

If you have only used on, that's okay too, please post your opinions about either or both of these oils here. Oh, and I know everyone's hair is different, but I'm just looking for your personal experience with these oils...

Oh, and please tell us all what your hair type is... THANK YOU!!!

I have the Aphogee Essential Oil. I've never tried the Wild Growth oil.

The ingredients are: Safflower Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Isopropyl Myristate, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein PG-Propyl Silanteroil, Meadowfoam Oil, Mauritia Flexuosa Fruit Oil, Shea Butter, Panthenol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Phytantriol, Lanolin Oil, Trimethylsiloxyamodimethicone, C11-15 Pareth-7, C12-16 Pareth-9, Glycerin, Tricedeth-12, Proplparaben, BHT, Benzyl Salicylate, Butyphenyl Methyl Propional, Citronellol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene, Linalool, Parfum, Red-17 (CI 26100), Yellow 11 (CI 47000).

I like the smell, but I can't say I have used it a lot. I've had it for over a year, and the oil line is still above where the description begins on the back. I know it's an oil blend, but it doesn't feel like it applies very well. When I apply coconut oil (for example), my hands aren't as shiny afterward so I feel as if there's more on hair rather than my palms. The same isn't true for this blend. I might try it as a pre-poo in the future. I think I have only used it to seal my ends after moisturizing.

Oh, and my hair type is 4B+ (the plus is because I don't understand all the subcategories :))

The Wild Growth Oil made my hair feel really nice and soft.. and smelled pretty bad (in my opinion). I'm relaxed 4B. I haven't tried the Aphogee Oil yet.

I've never trid the aphogee, but the WGO used to be my staple go to for oiling my hair. Then my BSS stopped carrying it for a minute. Now it's back and I think they may have changed the formula. It smells a bit different and now whenever I use it, I get the WORST itchies EVER!!! I scratch like I've got something! LOL

I use the light version of the WGO in my water spritz and I like the fact that it is just a simple amalgamation of oils with no added nonsense; it also doesn't weigh my hair down.

Ingredients: olive oil, jojoba oil, coconut oil, castor oil, flaxseed oil, carrot oil, pumpkin seed oil, grapeseed oil, safflower oil, roman chamomile oil, black seed oil, evening primrose oil, vitamin E, wild growth hair oil nutrient complex, wild growth essential oil complex, fragrance.

I haven't the faintest clue as to my hair type (sorry).

I use WGO. I agree that it does smell bad but the scent doesn't last. I like this oil because even though I have fine relaxed hair, I use only a few drops on dry hair and it makes it really soft. When I'm sealing, I use a bit more on damp hair but it doesn't weigh it down at all. When I'm stretching, I apply it to my scalp and it works great with my new growth (4a/4b). It's just a great multi purpose oil for me. I've never tried the Aphogee though.

I can't get past the smell of WGO. But I do like my Aphoghee Essential fatty acid oil. I have the old school version before they came out with the new Aphogee Essential Hair Oil

My Aphogee EFA oil is like liquid gold. I'll be soo sad when I run out b/c I can't find the old stuff anywhere :( .. Kinda smells like Kemi oyl.. so I might try that

mstk. Girl, I don't really understand the types and letters, either! I just usually say I'm texlaxed and very thick! LOL

learningandgrowing. This is one of the reasons I may be hesitant to try it - I don't like for my hair to smell bad! But if it works then maybe its worth it?

pjbapb. can you imagine being at work and just scratching and scratching? lol - I work with lippy people and they would be like, "do you have fleas?!" heehee

PJaye. Yes, the ingredients really impress me. I've read that you should use the two wildgrowth products together - I wonder if it brings maximum health and growth or it just one is fine?

chasturner84. Did you notice any growth with your use of the oil?

yaya24. I forgot all about Kemi! I wonder how well this works...

^^ I didn't notice growth per se but it has definitely helped with my retention so I was able to see more length over time.

sounds good to me!

I'm not sure that there is any miracle growth oil or serum out there - as much as the manufaacturerers want us to believe that! Its a matter of consistency and dedication!

I don't recommend using the Aphogee Essential Hair Oil as an everyday oil. I tried a little (a drop or two) mixed with another carrier oil just to seal on a wash day and it came out a little crunchy and hard because of the protein.

Gotcha, simplyhair...that makes sense seeing as the Aphogee is a protein treatment! lol - my brain is not on the 'think' setting today!

I used WGO years ago when I was natural. I would flat iron my hair, put a little WGO in my finger tips and massage it in scalp. Then a few drops on the length of my hair and wrap. When I took my scarf off my hair was so soft it would just fall on its own. Super soft hair and smell is gone. I just brought more last week. Never tried Aphogee Essential Oil.

I found some of this at a BSS around my house about1-2 years ago. I ended up selling it on here because I did not like it at the time. Now i'm natural and I need something like this:sad:
The ingredients were great:yep:

I've used both. The Aphogee essential oil is my staple. I like to mix the oil with Motions CPR. This combination makes my hair feel so moisturized and strong. I also like to mix it with Aubrey Organics GPB because it give my hair LOTS of slip. I love this oil. I've tried using it alone after conditioning my hair and it left my hair feeling heavy and weighed down. I wouldn't recommend using it to seal with because its a pretty heavy oil, but mixed with a conditioner it is phenomenal!! I've tried Wild Growth oil for like a week. It smelled bad and I didn't feel like it was doing anything for my hair so I stopped using it. My hair type is 4A by the way.
