Why aren't the lables facing outward @ the salon?

This thread made me think of a hairdresser I used to go to who could hot-comb the heck out of some hair.

At the time I was going to her I was using products with petroleum and it was causing my hair to be greasy.

So she sudses up my hair and I swear I smell dish-liquid (I've washed a lot of dishes in my time so I know when I smell dish liquid).

Afterward my hair would always be grease-free, but I was like, there is no way:nono: this woman would actually use dish liquid on hair, because that stuff is just too strong.

One day I'm getting my hair blowdried and I see the shampoo girl reach up in the cabinet for the build-up remover: DAWN dish liquid.

And it wasn't the unconcentrated kind either. It was the kind that comes in the tiny bottle that will have your plastic squeaking like nobody's business!

Did the DAWN work? :yep: Yuppers. But I was always concerned what something that could eat grease like DAWN, would end up doing to the hair over time.

My exact sentiments, I personally know of 2 hairdressers that pull the old switcheroo, using salon brand bottles to store absolutely crappy products from Satan's loins but they still have the audacity to charging you salon prices for very inferior products. I eliminate the risk that they might be using inferior products or that they might decide to put perm in the conditioner bottle to soften my au natural hair. As a result I carry my own products. It's better to have a healthy does of paranoia than suffer the consequences.

Hey, I just thought of something. I've just read that a lot of people get around the "mystery product' thing by bringing their own products. With this in mind, do they charge you less seeing as though you're not using theirs?

or what about when you see the label and ask them what it is and they're like "oh i'm just using the keracare bottle but i really have "xyz" in there mixed with some "123"...

well they do use dawn on animals that have been caught in an oil spill... so, maybe :spinning:
see, look it!

ETA: i used it on my hair once in like middle school. i let my friend "do" my hair and it was a hot greasy mess. she seriously used a whole thing of blue magic and a whole thing of brown gel. the style didnt work so we were going to wash my hair and start over but the poo at her house didnt work... the water was seriously beading up on my hair lmao. so we went to my house and shampoo'd and again the water was still beading up. we panicked cause i wasnt allowed to let my friends do my hair and she wasnt allowed to be doing peoples hair with out her mom home to watch. so we used dawn to wash my hair and it worked. i think it was pretty stripping though... but its hard to recall now cause it was sooo very long ago lmao
