This thread made me think of a hairdresser I used to go to who could hot-comb the heck out of some hair.
At the time I was going to her I was using products with petroleum and it was causing my hair to be greasy.
So she sudses up my hair and I swear I smell dish-liquid (I've washed a lot of dishes in my time so I know when I smell dish liquid).
Afterward my hair would always be grease-free, but I was like, there is no way
this woman would actually use dish liquid on hair, because that stuff is just too strong.
One day I'm getting my hair blowdried and I see the shampoo girl reach up in the cabinet for the build-up remover: DAWN dish liquid.
And it wasn't the unconcentrated kind either. It was the kind that comes in the tiny bottle that will have your plastic squeaking like nobody's business!
Did the DAWN work?
Yuppers. But I was always concerned what something that could eat grease like DAWN, would end up doing to the hair over time.
