Thanks 4 our nail *****!
Ok now that my hair is CBL (I am so happy this became a length I needed an accomplishment between SL and APL:grin:) I feel like I need a style. I am recently texlaxed and I have been sporting a mopsy flopsy wash n go. I think if I had my hair cut into a style I would look older or more professional (at least that's what my mom says:rolleyes:). Since I started off bald my hair is growing in weird layers and my protective style from before I texlaxed was a bun which broke off my nape and sides:nono:. I have been working so hard for my length and that's probably my main fear when I thinking of going to a salon to get a cut.
How do you cut texlaxed hair should the stylist cut when wet or dry?
Should I do any treatments before or after? (exp: ACV, DC, Protein)
Are there any behaviors a stylist exhibits during a cut that are signs to run?
Are there any specific questions I should ask?
Should I not do this at all?
Any advice is appreciated! :yep:

Here are some pics of the style I'm wearing now

I think your hair is perfect. I WISH my w-n-g would look like yours. Reggie/Product list?
IDK what the other ladies will say, but from what I see, your hair looks like it falls naturally and flatteringly.

Ahhh thanks :yep: from your lips to my mothers ears. I feel like because I know she has hated my hair since I cut it and she has been really awesome about being encouraging and keeping her thoughts to herself, that I should give her this one. Does that sound crazy? I think I finally figured out my mother doesn't like natural hair because it to her doesn't look polished.

My reggie is super easy. I DC 2x's a week once with steam once with heat. I prepoo with oil 2x a week and I co-wash daily with tresemme flawless curls, detangle with a wide tooth comb and then put tresemme curl hydrating cream in my I hair in the shower but I don't wash it out. I just finish my shower and let the steam make my hair as curly as possible. I then get out and scrunch it for a few mins while I brush my teeth. The key with scrunching is to dry your hands off between every scrunch.:yep:

I believe billzbackerz (sorry i think I misspelled her name) used to get her hair cut into a style and it looks really awesome.

Ive been considering this for myself :yep:

I think its best to cut the hair while dry because if you cut it while wet you may not get the exact look your going for. I dont really have any other suggestions.

yep-just had to do this back in march!! i don't even really do wash and go-but my twistouts/braidouts (my main styles) were looking kinda boring.
here's a thread i made about it, if you're interested:http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=452522&highlight=

now to answer your questions, my answers are in purple:
How do you cut texlaxed hair should the stylist cut when wet or dry?i think any kind of hair with some measure of texture should be cut while dry and straight, for a more precise cut.
Should I do any treatments before or after? (exp: ACV, DC, Protein)if you're straightening yourself, then i guess you should DC. if they're straightening it, then i would assume they'd give you a DC as well, depending on where you go.
Are there any behaviors a stylist exhibits during a cut that are signs to run?ummm....if he/she isn't listening to your suggestions, that's NOT ok.
Are there any specific questions I should ask?ask about the grow-out stage!! i think this is really important to know. you probably don't want a cut that's gonna grow out looking super awkward and ugly.
Should I not do this at all?if you're sure you want to, i really think you should. it definitely made me feel much better about my hair.

sorry for the super long post-hope it helps!!

Should I get it cut while its straight even thou I never wear it straight? I wear it curly everyday so should I just do my hair and then go and say please cut this? I don't want my hair to only have a style when its straight? Does that make sense or if it looks good straight will it automatically look good curly?

Rocky did you go to a chain salon like aveda or was it some one with experience with natural hair? And super long post are awesome! thanks! :) I saw your thread that cut is superb! could you tell a huge difference in your twist outs?

hmmm....i guess i would go with a cut while curly if you only wear it curly, but then i'd advise you go to a salon that actually knows how to do that, like Miss Jessie's or Ouidad's or something like that.
i think most cuts that look good straight will look pretty good curly, but then again, i'm no professional.

I went to this kinda indie-type white salon-they kinda specialize in funky short cuts, and many of the stylists are pretty familiar with "ethnic" hair.
my twistouts had much better shape. as in, once i unraveled the twists, it looked good-i didn't have to be rearranging my hair like crazy to make it look good.
