i agree with you ,support you. most women think that violate morality, so they go to temple to cut their hair , so that god can forgive them , then most indian hair are from indian temple. Some of that Indian Remy comes from hair sacrificed in religious ceremonies. Some women save their shed hair and sell it. There are also reports of women getting their hair cut and stolen by thieves in Southeast Asia. Suppliers often use animal hair in the mix as well and still label it human hair.
Strictly speaking, remy or remi hair, is hair that has been remitted in Hindu temples. Some women in India and other regions practice tonsure. Tonsure is a religious practice associated with Christianity, Buddhism and Hinduism whereby the devotees shave their heads as a demonstration of their religious devotion. You may want to watch this: The documentary "Hair India" was on linktv before Chris Rock's movie came out. It covers some of the same basic facts that "Good Hair" talks about and features an Indian family who go to a temple to donate their hair. You can watch it online here: http://www.linktv.org/programs/hair-india - it's very informative.
Not all Indian hair is temple hair. Vendors use that as a selling point so you wouldn't have it without knowing about it. From the documentary you can think about it as tithe or offering in Christian churches except that their's is also tied into ritual purification that includes head shaving. The temple sells the hair and this no doubt contributes to upkeep (these temple structures are very old). I'm not sure about corpse hair from India because they practice cremation.
I have worn virgin Indian hair while I was relaxed I am not wearing it now because I will not be torturing my hair with a flat iron to blend with the straight hair now that I am transitioning. I bought my hair from a reputable vendor who I believe I can trust but just the same as you dont know exactly where your jeans or shoes came from or what they went through before you purchased them I cant be 100% sure about the hair. A lot of people dont realize it's not only the hair industry that's corrupt but those jeans you are wearing could have been sewn by a seven year old worker in a hot room in india working for only a few rupies a day. I guess the point Im trying to make is we can just try to be as informed as possible of where our products come from but just not to point fingers at others without making sure our own hands are clean first.WHAT???I had no idea that I was wearing sacrificed hair... Lord forgive me! They shave their heads, oh my gosh! OK this confirms that I will neva wear weave again. Besides, with LHCF and all that I have learned, i won't have to cuz my hair is gonna be down to my ankles
