very true. there are so many other oils out there with beneficial properties.mkstar826 said:yep...because most products marketed towards us only use it because it's cheaper than using quality oils that nourish the hair. i'd rather use natural oils that don't clog pores and sit on top of my hair.
you could try giovanni. everyone seems to love it. and they do sample sizes. tons of threads on this.tryn2growmyhair said:Id like to avoid mineral oil but then what do you use for a leave-in? I use Elasta QP Recovery or Sedal Anti-Sponge.

Thanks for this tip, but my hair does not like leave-ins with protein. This is part of the reason why I am such a PJ. Believe you me, it has been very hard to find a leave-in that works for my hair.asphyxxia said:oh dear

Thanks, I looked at it and it has glycerin. My hair does not like leave-ins with glycerin or excessive protein. Make my hair dry and crispy. So far, the only leave-ins that my hair has been able to tolerate are Mane and Tail (it was alright), Pantene Detangle Light (I will be using this more often) and Bumble and Bumble Leave-In/Conditioner. I finishedu p the MNT and BNB and have been using the Detangle Light. I am looking for a staple and I dont believe that Detangle Light has enough conditioners for me.CurleeDST said:Aveda Elixir is a wonderful leave in!
What products do you put in your hair then?oglorious1 said:avoid it like the plague, that stuff is gasoline by product
Believe you me, when I am in braids, I will be using up a lot of products that did not work on my hair when it is out. I.e. Infusium 23, Deep Brilliance Manage, Aubrey's Detangle Go Luster, Aphogree Green Tea Leave-in. What did all of these products have in common? They either have lots of glycerin or protein in them, stuff that makes my hair hard and sticky. As a matter of fact, I am going to post a spin-off thread about this.asphyxxia said:i hope i dont have that problem too. life is so much harder when you wear you hair out. i've got a sew-in. i use ORS olive oil monthly![]()
