We did her BC today...at first she was nervous, but she was determined to do it. She made the first cut:grin:. I wish I would have found my cam in time to record it, but I do have pics. She transitioned for 10 months.

If you have a moment, please leave my lil girl a word of encouragement :)

:congrats: The easy part is over. Now just to stick with it and push forward when your hair starts to "misbehave". You really won't regret it!

Thanks everyone! I'm very proud of her having the guts to chop at her age. I had to check my 14 yo already for telling her she looked like a slave...WTF???? She's reallly just jealous that her sister's hair finally looks just as good as her own.
 
:congrats: She will have hair down her back before she knows it. I wish I started out that young, I can only imagine how long my hair would be if I had a momma like you.

ETA: tell her to embrace her beauty becasue girls can be cruel when they don't understand something (whether it be a comment from a close friend or stranger)

Oh wow! She is beautiful. It is so wonderful of you to start her on her healthy hair journey so early in life. I hope she is an influence on her peers and passes her healthy hair practices on to them.

Very true. One thing in my DD's favor is that she has always been a bit of a rebel...she marches to the beat of her own personal drummer. I think she will be fine:yep:.

We used BKT to help with transitioning. She washes once a week, and unintentionally moisturized daily (because I took away the gel and replaced it with Long Aid curl activator :lachen::grin:). I removed all sulfate shampoos from my home, so everyone co-washes whether they intended to or not. I make shea butter mixes that we all use in our hair and on our skin. my girls use what I use, which has helped their hair tremendously. My 14 yo is also transitioning, but is not ready to BC (I don't think she ever will be). I just gradually trim her relaxed ends every couple of months.
 
wow, not only is her hair beautiful, she's one gorgeous girl. Big ups and good luck on her journey; it only gets better from this point on.
