Ladies,

Where the heck did this Skala line come from. The last month or so it's been consistently a front page topic.

Then I see the haul pictures.....lawd haf mearcy! ....Some of ya'll gon' have shampoos, conditioners and treatments for the next 50-11 years.:lachen:

Someone please enlighten me...

I would like to know too! I seen some of the products in the stores but I'm hestiant to buy them.

Wow. You must be a Zero on the PJ Tendency 1-10 scale. Hesitant to buy a product that only costs 1 dollar?

I predict you will someday be a millionaire as you are definitely in control of your money.

I think some ppl get really excited over "exotic" brands. lol I have a couple conditioners and a masque (worth a try for 3 bucks), all of which I'm going to try through the week. I'm not going in overly-hyped just because it's Brazilian, tho. :lachen:

I wish. I'm a pj but for some strang reason, I don't want to buy them...maybe b/c I might go crazy and buy the whole lot:grin:

Skala has been around for a while and people who have been on the board a while said they remember it being popular off and on..but the main hype came from it being on sale at Biglots.I don't have any of the masque yet but I plan on trying them soon

I do wish I could try them, but unfortunately, I can't find them around here. And I'm not about to order them online just to see what the hype is about. I'm pretty sure they are good products, but I guess I'll have to wait until I can get my hands on them someday. I used to be a horrible hair PJ, but I've since turned away from that and my hair PJ'ism is no more!!

It's like Skala hysteria over on that thread - women have their own Skala stores. I would love to see some photos of hair after using Skala rather than the product hoards. What does this stuff do besides only costing a dollar?

My hair is still a TWA but I did post b4 and after on the boards of my results....May not help those with Longer hair ....but I will repost here in case it does

Sorry in advance for pic sizes...what I noticed most was the moisture...I do get great moisture with other conditioners but normally after it dries it is no longer moisturized ..I have to use a lot of oils and butters

I had already washed the morning Before Skala -
This was co-washed and sealed with CoCasta Oil

I washed again the same day because I wanted to try the products before I bought more than the couple I had found

After Shampoo, Conditioner with Jabordi(sp.)
Wet w/ Skala Aloe Vera Leave-In

Fully Dry (and I didn't seal with Oil becuz I forgot actually)

Oooh, so pretty! I love SKALA because it gives the same results as more expensive conditioners.

If I was caught up in buying any ole' conditioner for $1.00, I would have stuck w/Suave and VO5. Skala puts them to shame.:yep:

The past couple weeks I haven't even used oils - don't need annythang but SKALA!

My reason for buying it was not because it was Brazilian ...But because it had great reviews and it was $1 and I said what the hell if it doesn't work it is a $1 ...the same thing I spend on Suave Tropical Coconut.....So i bought like four just to try ...and after I got home and tested it...is when I said Oh yeah for $1 this beats out my expensive conditioners by far ...so why waste money on stuff that cost way more when I can get better results from one that is priced at $1 and it works just as well if not better. That began my Big Lot trips and lurking on the swap thread

But I must add...your hair does need to be clean before applying them for the first time...I had to clarify 1st...the 1st time I just co-washed and it was coated feeling...so I had to shampoo then condition...but I am back to co-washing just fine

I think different ones are for different hair needs

Ceramides G3 - seals hair cuticle and strengthens hair structure
Jaborandi - revives weak/dull hair and removes excess oil from hair and scalp
Fruit Cocktail - moisturizes and restores all hair types

Your hair may like one particular product or none. Mine loves the SB and Jaborandi. It likes the AV, but only tolerates the Ceramides G3 (except for the masque which is ). Fruit cocktail is so-so compared to the others and I've never used the Avocado. Remember to try any product on clean hair for the best possible results!

Thanks for the breakdown of the products and pics JustSimplyTish. I definitely need something that will add moisture to my dry hair.

OT: JustSimplyTish, you and your hair are absoluety GORGEROUS.

OnT: I bought the Skala in the ceramides, Shea Butter, and the Fruit Cocktail mask. I like the ceramides, I use it after I DC with steam. Cearmides are good for the hair. The SB anf FC mask, I did not like. I use the mask to DC with stream, and uh :nono:. I used the SB to cowash, and again I say :nono:. But the ceramides is a keeper. I bought my mom some ceramides too. She just told me that she like the ceramides cnditioner as well. We are both naturals. I ended up adopting the masks out to better homes :giggle: A couple of Skala fans took them in. The SB conditioner has been thrown out. For a buck, it is worth a try, if you can get it. HTH

@ JustSimplyTish: You are so RIGHT about clarifying the hair FIRST. The first time I used the Skala, my hair felt coated and yucky, but the second time, I made sure to clarify. The results were much better!

I :heart2:your curls.

Simply gorgeous!!!

Here are some tips for the folks who want to find out about Skala but are afraid of the giant thread (really just search tips in general for large threads)

  1. Grab a snack, and read it anyway -- you will get more in-depth info in original threads than any secondary threads
  2. Go to the thread, go up to where you can search within the thread, and search for something obvious, like the word "results" or "review"...you'll get some false positives (like when someone quoted someone else's review), and it doesn't guarantee that you will catch every post that includes reviews, but you'll only have a few pages to look through, rather than forty-something.
  3. Also search for things that are less obvious, but smarter, like slip or detangled. Again you'll sometimes get false positives where someone is asking about those properties, or when someone has quoted someone else, but it still helps cut down on the number of posts to read. A really good one is the word felt. People use that word often when describing how their experience with something was, and it is rarely used when asking a question, since you would typically be using the word in the present tense for that purpose (feel).

Thanks Tish for the pics....I think I understand.

I just got turned off by the thread when I clicked the first few links that were supposed to be linked to the product but it seemed that I was on a blank mission. Nothing Skala related popped up and I was just intimidated by the length of the thread. But I appreciate simplytish for breaking it down for a [lazy] sista :)
