Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in May Hinder Hair Growth

As an Aesthetician, I'm going to offer this 'OPINION": The product probably has been known to clog pores or hair follicles thereby hindering growth.

The warning itself was poorly worded though it uses terminology we commonly use to refer to our natural hair. Heck LHDC referred to what sounded like 40% of her very long hair as “new growth”.
I tried the product about a year ago, and found it too heavy for my relaxed hair, and I also noted that it was quick to produce “build-up”.

i hope this video doesn't blow up into a whole bunch of gullible ninnies swearing off cantu. :ohwell: flock mentality is a trip.

That seems to be what happened on the yt comments, I didn't read them all but the ones I read are sayin how they're tossin their Cantu. ::shrug::

I LOVE Cantu...I have been using it since January and I went from APL and now I am grazing BSL...

I DO not put it on my scalp (or ANYTHING for that mater)

I DO NOT use more than a smear per twist at a time cause I use it for twists...A little of this appears to do better...many ladies complained that it has too much buildup but I learned they wear using globs at a time...

I DO NOT use this for for wash n gos......It makes a wash n go look great but Wash n Gos leave the hair exposed and thus hinders growth anyway...

So ummmm....its all about your TECHNIQUES....and Hair Regimens.....

To each its own...I bought my second jar already....used one jar in 3 months....

I only re-apply this stuff on the 3rd day cause it moisturizes well when sealed with a light oil like jojoba....
Eddited to add: Because I use so little at a time....I get hardly ANY buildup....heck I don't even notice it.......so once again a little goes a long way with this product...its oil based though it has no mineral oil or petroleum...it has cones (which gives the hair that silky look) but my 4AB hair looks great! Everyones hair is different!

I'm sure they will change their wording and women who do not read hair boards will apply it to their scalp and hinder their growth.

Relaxers can cause scalp burn and hair loss if applied improperly, but I don't see a hot video on that or a ton of people tossing them out...im just sayin. And let's be honest, how many people follow the relaxer directions EXACTLY....?

Amen Amen Amen!

Good for braid outs and twist outs? I have some of this from last summer I will dig up. I like mango butter for my braid outs now, I have something else to try.

I remember this warning on the back. At least we will officially know what it is exactly. I think it's probably just build up/clog from product on scalp more then anything.
