Thanks for the video. I'd like to know how it would hinder growth tho so I'll definitely be looking out for her next video. And I'm taking them off my wish list for the time being lol
 


Is it this product? I just bought a whole jar! I am guessing the inhibited growth applies to both relaxed and natural heads?

Yes that's the jar and yes I don't think it has anything to do with whether or not you're relaxed or natural. It's about getting it on the scalp sounds like.
 
Oh I have read about a few ladies using this her so I would like to hear more from those that have used this product as it was on my wishlist.
 
I have a jar of this, I've only used it twice and then I started my natural kick:look: But thank you for posting the video, I will definitely not revisit this product.

So are they saying specifically the Cantu Shea Butter hinders growth, or any product applied directly to the scalp area hinders growth?
 
Hm... this makes me wonder how many OTHER products out there do the same thing once applied too close to the scalp... :look:
Oh well at least the company is honest enough to place a warning about it and say it for themselves. :yep:
 
I was thinking any cream like that probably would hinder growth because it may clog your pores or something.. they just happen to put a warning label on theirs and when i used this product before it did build up in my hair every few days and i had to wash (co-washed with pantene hydrating curls back then) for my hair to not feel coated.. im definitely waiting on her next video as well to see what else them say
 
It's common knowledge that products such as creams, pomades, grease etc...can clog pores therefore hindering growth. *shrug*:rolleyes:
 
Since the product is thick and some of it may get onto the scalp so it may clog the hair follicles which may hinder growth. I think that’s what they may be referring to. Not some chemical that may possibly hinder growth. I’m not saying it’s not possible, but I don’t think it’s likely. I’ve been using the cantu shea butter leave-in since last year, it’s great for braidouts and twistouts. I just bought a new jar yesterday, I wont be throwing it away, since my hair growth hasn’t been hindered from using it.

This whole thing is way over-dramatic.
 
I did a lengthy review on this with trouble shooting and noting the build up issue myself. ANY thing that clogs pores, as other posters have mentioned can hinder growth. ITA with above posters.
 
I have been using this product faithfully since I BCed in April...I love it..use it daily and my hair has grown a lot. I will continue to use this product until it no longer works for me.
 
I have a container of that and another Cantu product, but I stopped using because for some reason I started to feel like it almost smelled fishy when it hit my hair.

That happened to me twice, i realized, for me it was that i was putting it on dry already coated hair. I now only use it on damp hair with nothing else on it first.

I like the product and avoid my scalp with it anyway so I'm going to continue to use it until any real research shows me I should do otherwise.
 
That doesnt even sound right. They need to fire whoever wrote that email too....she could have explained it in a better way and now she has people all scared. Like many others said...most creams you put on your scalp clog it and have a buildup...Thats why I never understood why people still "grease their scalp". It says on the jar " Avoid applying any styling or conditioning product directly on new growth". I don't really get that statement, but keyword "ANY". If that's the case I guess it isn't "meant" for natural hair since its all "new growth" lol. But I will still continue to use it because I love it along with many other naturals.
 
I was scared for 2 seconds but then i thought about it...if it was 100% sure to really stop hair growth, why would they openly talk about it and cause themselves to lose money? Unless you only shampoo once and a month and are heavy handed with products on your scalp, I wouldn't even worry about it, shooooo I'm finna rub some Cantu on my twists right now! lol

Those directions are for relaxed heads. If you put moisturizer directly on your new growth you have a greater chance of getting it on your scalp where it doesn't belong.

But it still doesnt make sense- whether it was meant for relaxed ladies or not. All natural women have only "new growth"--so that means by their verbiage to not put it on your hair at all if you are natural---I get what they mean, I just think they worded it wrong ...what would make more sense is for them to say don't put it within an inch (or so) of your scalp. Honestly, they shouldn't have mentioned that line at all lol...especially since it scared that lady enough for her to email them about it. Honestly, if I read it before, I wouldn't have thought anything about it because thats the norm to not put anything heavy on your scalp.
 
Well I grease my scalp and it has not hindered my growth at all. I have the same amount as when I don't grease it. So I would like to know specifically what they are talking about. If it's just about clogging pores, then that's fine. But if it is about something else, then I'd like to know.
 
this is one of my products staples for my natural hair. it moisturizes it better than anything... well except The Juice, but that's about it.

I think the fishy smell is because of the collagen, so if you're allergic to seafood you might want to avoid this, but personally, I really like this product. I'm going to go back and watch the video.
 
I use the Cantu Shea butter... however I don't put it on my scalp. Like the ladies above said, anything that is not meant for the scalp that has ingredients that can clog your pores has the potential to hinder growth...
