*Hangs head in shame*

Okay, so ever since I started my natural hair journey, I seem to have developed... a problem with conditioners. :nono:

Ladies, I literally CANNOT go into the store without looking at various conditioners, and purchasing at least one bottle. I have a similar problem with hair gels, (Eco styler and ORS Lock and Twist) too.

DH doesn't understand AT ALL! He thinks that since I'm natural now, I need only to wash my hair every once in a while and grease my scalp. He often gives me the side eye when he sees me come in from the store with bags of conditioner, and occasionally complains that I spend more money on hair products now than I did before.

Sadly, I don't see an end to this trend in sight. The idea of running out of conditioner sends a mild sense of panic through me, and so I stock up on bottles after bottles and have begun hiding them in various places so that DH won't say anything. :Blush2:

I feel a little guilty about my excessive spending, but what can I do? :ohwell:

let it run its course... i was the same way when i started but my pj'ism has gone into remission (with the occasional flair up). right now i have 3 conditioners, one which i use as a leave in, one for co-washes, and one to cond after a poo. i've done WAY BETTER at using up products before i purchase again

I wish I could say, it gets better:look:........but I haven't found that to be the case.:ohwell:

I have a strong addiction to conditioners and I am always fighting the urge. And losing most of the time

*hangs head in shame* exits thread.

It helps when you find out what your hair really loves. Once you know this and you're out of the experimenting stage it gets easier and you find you don't necessarily need to keep buying. In my case though I choose to continue buying but I have calmed down a lot from when I first started!

It gets better, try and set yourself a monthly hair care budget and stick to it.

Trust me, on this board, I think we are all conditioner hoarders... Many of us are PJ's in various degrees of recovery...creeps into the bathroom to make sure I'm not short of conditioners...:lachen:.

I stay stocked on conditioners! I co-wash daily and use a lot as leave-in product, so I do have a ton. I'm going to try and deplete the stash though. Deep down, I have this weird fear that something I love will be discontinued so I have it stocked like water and canned goods for nuclear war! :lachen::look:

I am in recovery but about to fall off big time when I make my 2nd trip to BL this afternoon .

Does it count as hoarding if they only cost $1 and come from Brazil??

OMG, I thought I was the only one. I'm always thinking that something will be discontinued or go through a formula change.

I bought loads of Skala on Saturday and on Monday (today) i bought a Herbal Essence - why did i do that.

Between purchasing multiples of the stuff I know I love, It seems like

I am always on this never-ending "Quest" for the next great Deep Conditioner.

My extreme weaknesses are: Masques/Masks, Deep Conditioners, Deep Penetrating Treatments, Reconstructors, Intensive Masks, Hair Paste etc.......:lick:

Thank you ladies for responding! There is something I'd like to clarify though...

Umm... it's not that I'm still in the experimental stage, at least not in my co-washing conditioners. Haven't found my perfect DC yet, but that's another story.

Anyway, it's not that I'm trying different kinds of conditioners all the time. I mainly use Suave and Vo5. The problem is that I can't stop buying them, even when I have several bottles already!! I just keep thinking that I need to stock up, just in case I should run into a situation where I can't buy conditioner for a while, I'll already have some.

I realize that this notion is largely ridiculous because Vo5 only costs $0.79 per bottle, yet I can't seem to stop myself from buying more! I think part of the problem is BECAUSE they are so cheap!

:nervous2: I'm running out of places to hide my stuff!!

:lachen:

I Understand.:yep: I have like 30-50 Suave, V05, White Rain.

But I bought them specifically for Henna Rinsing and all of them were cheap and on sale at the time I purchased them.

I did manage to finally stop buying them. So, you'll stop.:yep:

Now I see them, and it doesn't even phase me. Especially when I think about what I already have at home.

I love conditioners, as well. I generally won't spend full price, but if there is a red tag on that sucka it is mine!

30-50 bottles??!! :pant::drool:

I'd be both ridiculously happy, and wracked with guilt at the same time.

Though now that I think about it, I wonder how many bottles I DO have. :scratchch

*runs off to count*

IK. I don't feel bad at all using 1/2 bottle or more:look: for rinsing out Henna/Indigo.

I have never, ever had dry hair as a result of Hendigo'ing.:nono:

See, I'm sure your hair is a lot longer than mine too, so you would need more conditioner. My only justification is that I use it for my daughter as well as myself. :ohwell:

I use to be an extreme PJ, I recovered and then relapsed with Skala. If I can get into a Skala rehabilitation program then I will be fine...:yep:

I don't have PJ'ism...any longer. I have pretty much figured out what does and does not work for my hair. I have also gotten rid of the products that I "swore" off. I love conditioner...and every since I discovered co-washing, I just cannot get enough of it. I buy in multiples...shoes, clothes, and hair products....it doesn't matter. I went to Target on Saturday, they were having a sale on Herbal Essence and Aussie lines...needless to say I stocked up. It's wasn't CRAZY...I got 5 products total...thing is I had just bought a bunch of Vo5 on Friday.

But I need it..yea..I need it...cause I co-wash...use them as leave-ins...I pre-poo...and sometimes I'll make a little cheapy DC with them. So I tend to go through them.... (ahh the justifications....)

What... what is that hauntingly familiar smell...?

Hmm... Yes, I do believe I recognize it as the deceptively alluring fragrance of denial!! :lachen::lachen::lachen:

I was feeling some sort of sympathy for you before I read the bolded. :lachen::lachen::lachen:. DH doesn't understand. lol. :lachen: why would he...you only have so much hair. lol

i am a conditioner hoarder. same problem as you..everytime i see something new or a new ingredient, i buy that conditioner. i have so many conditioner i just use them as freely as i want so i can actually use them up.

i have gotten better though. i resist my urge to try the new conditioner, especially if it is similar to something i have. everytime my friends come over i give them hair products to take home. :nono:

U got, u got it bad
When you're at the beauty supply
Leave and you go right back
U got, u got it bad
If you miss a day without your condish
Your whole life's off track
You know you got it bad when you're stuck in the house
You don't wanna have fun
It's all you think about
U got it bad when you're out with someone
But you keep on thinkin' bout conditioning ur hair
U got it bad

Fear not...you are not alone....I, myself, bought two huge containers of Bed Head Control Freak Conditioner last night (I actually spotted them Saturday before I went to the movies. Went to get in line to buy them, line was too long and didn't want to miss the movie so I stashed them in some rugs in the home decor department and was back there promptly at 11:00a yesterday to claim my prize).
Friday, bought a small bottle of the Garnier Triple Nutrition conditioner to try out and replenished my Mixed Chicks Leave-In last Tuesday....yup, I gots it BAD!

You are not alone. I have a problem with deep conditioners, but my mother is helping me use some. Next month will be the last month for me to buy conditioner(s), and this is with a $5 coupon from Sallys. After that, no more until we use most or all of them.

The economy is too bad to be buying nonessentials. For ten years, I was fine with my primary staples, but I stumbled across this board, and I found other items that cost a lot less but need "doctoring up" to give me the same results of Verifen Complex.

Anyway, I already made a list of the best ones I will keep. Today I received Silicon Mix after thinking about it for five years, and it smells so good.

I NEEED REHAAAB BAAAAD!!!!:look:

Umm... yeah, I'm waiting on a few packages to come in the mail too. One came today, and I'm waiting for... like 7 more?

Don't judge me!

The one that came today had conditioner in it, and I am expecting two more bottles; along with a magnetic roller set, some perm rods... and a few other things. :ohwell:

Maybe I really DO have a problem! :perplexed

This is my extra pile that I can't hide because there is no room for it. Vo5 went on sale last week for .69 and I bought 20 bottles, my husband just shakes his head and says I need to go to rehab, He keeps asking me why do you have to buy all of them. And I say "because it is on sale! and it's cheap. I prefer not to buy fast food for 5.00 when I can buy 5-8 bottles of skala and/or vo5 conditioners!!!!

If you are like me then it doesn't get better, you either maintain it or it gets worst. I have a shopping addiction, expecially to clearance, sale, cheap items! anytime it goes on sale and it's cheap I have to buy in Bulk. I can't control it. I go through phases from clothes, hair products, makeup, exercise equipment, and then the cycle starts over again and when it does there is something new on the market that i have to try. I went to 6 big lot stores in houston to find skala. and I only found 3 bottles. I was like a crack/conditioner head craving for my next fix. I don't even use them all. and that is the sad part.
