I was thinking about lightening my hair with lemon juice when it gets hotter but I may try this instead. Thanks for posting this.

what?? are they saying the ACV will lighten the hair, or that the cinnamon is supposed to color it? either way that seems like a lot of ACV to let sit on your head. I wouldnt do it, that would prob dry my head out somethin fierce and start snappin it off.

I wanna try this too but I don't want to put it on every night to achieve desired color. Maybe once a week. I love red hair anyway.

I'm interested in trying this.. I've wanted to add color to my hair for some time now and didn't want to use harmful dyes.. I think additional conditioner can offset any drying that the acv may do...

Thanks OP for the link.

Would love to see pics from whoever tries this. Wonder how this would work on grays.

How to Highlight Your Hair With Apple Cinnamon Vinegar
By Megan Shoop, eHow Contributing Writer

Hair has a naturally acidic pH, which means that alkaline shampoos and conditioners formulated to deep-clean hair can eventually leave buildup on your scalp and dull your hair's shine. One way to restore the shine is to highlight your hair, but commercial dyes strip your hair of its protective coatings and can leave it brittle. Applying apple cider vinegar to your tresses solves both of these problems---it will create highlights in your hair while the acidity in the vinegar clears your scalp of buildup. The salts in the vinegar will also leave your hair glossy and strong. Adding cinnamon to the vinegar will not only make your hair smell good; it will also add a caramel cast to your hair.
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
Things You'll Need:

* Ground cinnamon
* Apple cider vinegar
* Shampoo
* Conditioner
* Leave-in conditioner
* Comb
* Bowl
* Spoon
* Shower cap or old towel

1.
Step 1

Mix 1/2 cup of water with 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar and add enough cinnamon to make a thin paste. This mixture is enough to use on long hair; for medium to short hair, halve or quarter this recipe.
2.
Step 2

Wash and condition your hair as usual. Gently towel-dry your hair and comb a leave-in conditioner through your hair. Scoop up some of the paste with your fingers and first apply it to your roots before spreading it evenly onto the rest of your hair to the ends.
3.
Step 3

Rub the paste onto your palms and smooth your hands over your hair to make sure that all of your hair is coated. Roll your hair into a loose bun and wrap it in an old towel or put it under a shower cap. Leave your hair wrapped for four to eight hours. If comfortable to you, allow the paste to soak into your hair overnight by sleeping with your hair wrapped.
4.
Step 4

Rinse the paste from your hair with warm water. The cinnamon and dilution of the vinegar should reduce any unpleasant smells. Dry and style your hair as usual. It should be bright with red-brown highlights. Continue applying the paste every other night until you achieve the desired color. Light brown hair will turn redder with additional applications of the paste; darker hair will turn increasingly brown with red highlights.

well i did it today. my hair is wet so i can't really see anything. it FEELS great though! lol. it has a henna effect - my curls are hanging longer and there is less frizz and my hair feels wet and dry at the same time. hmm...i like. as for color, we shall see when its dry. but i am pretty sure i will have to do it a couple more times for the desired results. the only con is it was a b***h to rinse out. thank God i bought a cheapie vo5 for $.79 (on sale at rite-aid now for those of you who don't know lol). i used almost the whole bottle to cowash this mess out.
