I'm wanting to purchase a very hot flatiron - hotter than 230 degrees. What make and where have u bought yours from? Thanx.

Strange time for me to respond as I've been lurking for a while. Subscribed a long time ago, but still lurking. Anyway, I digress....

I bought the GHD and it is soooooo good. My texture is coarse but it does a fab job getting it straight. Be careful where you buy from as their are a lot of counterfeit GHDs out there. Look on the official GHD website for approved sellers. If you are unsure of a website, the GHD official site has a space where you can enter the website address and it will tell you if that seller is an approved seller. I strongly advice not going to ebay or any non-approved site. I hope this helps.

I would say Sally's and GHD flat irons, are supposed to be very good! What about Maxiglide, with the steam feature!.

Sallys do not do irons above 230 as far as i can see. The Maxi is a USA product and cannot be purchased in the UK.

Check out the ladies in Europe sticky, there's sites for flat irons there like FHI and maxiglide. I think 230 is one of the hottest temperatures in the UK but remember that the ladies in america are talkin about fareheit degrees.
230 celsisus=446 fahrenheit

I honestly don't think there are any over 230 in the UK. The only way I think you can get hotter is if you use a marcel iron that you put in a stove. Those seem to be the hottest.

Hi Labellenoire...I've been lurking for a while also. I have a question about the GHD flat iron I hope you can answer. I just purchased QOD Gold (BKT) I rarely use heat on my hair so I borrowed my daughters GHD. When I looked at the iron it has no heat settings, just a off/on switch. I went to the GHD website customer service but, they just sent me form email directing me to their general questions page.

Would you by chance know the the highest temperature...I've read in some threads to avoid high heats applying BKT's.

@Bublin: I researched & found the Izunami Flat Iron Ceramic Hair Straightener ... Temperature: 195° F to 450° F. is getting thumbs up from reviewers.Izunami @Bronner Bros with TMG 2.movIt's and its on my wish list...Beauty of New York has it for the lowest price.

To be honest, I do not know highest temperature of the GHD, except that it goes up to 200degrees. However, I have noted that on here, a lot of people are concerned with the highest temperature of a straightener rather than its even distribution of heat. In my opinion, how well a straightener distributes heat is more important than how high it can go up to, the reason being that if you have a straightener that heats up to 230 on one part of the plate and another at 180, that's just asking for trouble in the form of heat damage and a combo of frizzy and straight hair.

GHD - totally agree
well worth the money. I've had mine for about 4 years and would recommend to anyone

ITA about GHD. I've had mine for 6 years and its still going strong. The only thing is that I just started BKTing and I can't control the temperature on my GHD, so I bought a Genie titanium tourmaline straightener from Sally's for £60. Its a GHD knock-off but it goes up to 230 C and has a digital heat control so I use that for my BKTs.

^^ Haven't used it but, it looks like a good alternative to the Maxiglide combined with Denman D79 Thermoceramic Straightening brush.

Thanks Bublin:grin:
