9 year old with 24 inches of natural kinky 4a hair

Norma please dont stop what you are doing there are those days when she is sitting in the tub and screaming and my arm hurt and my knees hurt, i am sweating like a pig and i want to quit because it is too much. I get up and take a break i have also been known to leave a few tangles and knots in because it was just too diffcult but thats ok. What keeps us going is all those people on the street who stop her and tell her how beautiful her hair is.

Have you every tried putting her hair in twists? She has beautiful hair by the way and twist last a really long time. Just ask BMP. She just did mini twist in her own hair and it lasted her for a month. They were gorgeous!
 
Blackmasterpiece also she is getting to the point where she does not want me to see her naked the bathtub probably wont work after a year or so. i also dread not being able to wash and put a bubble wont be attractive so if you could offer guidance on how you style natural hair for a preteen would be great

I use to do tht when she was about 5 years old but since her hair is longer they take a long time and tangle when i have to remove them cornrows did look awesome but i will wait till she is older and she can sit through the 8 hour ordeal

Oh no problem hun...I'll give you some tricks of the trade on how to wash her hair more easily, some more styling options....etc.

I think the key for you guys will be long term protective styles that are wash and go that can last for up to a month.

Would she mind wearing a swim suit while you wash her hair? Just a thought.

Do you work on weekends? If you have the two days off, don't try to do them in one sitting. Do half her hair one day and the other half the next day.

I would have her in the bathtub until she is fifty, but i dont think when she is twelve she will want to wear the kiddie style i give her so i probably will have to take to professionals. I am hoping to learn how to do her so it can last at least a month.
 
That's got to be genetics to have hair like that pre-LHCF lol!! .....WOW!!

She's got that long thick beautiful Rudy Huxtable hair...no wonder people stop her in the street to take pics!! :grin:
