I washed and conditioned my hair yesterday, sprayed motions leave in, added hair butter (shea/cocoa) and braided my hair wet in about 15 large sections. The problem was that I found it very difficult to comb my hair (in order to plait it) wet with the hair butter. When you are air drying in plats, how/when should you apply the butter in order to comb it and make braids? All suggestions welcome.

Maybe you are using too much...When I used Healthy Hair Butter, I never had a problem combing. But, I usually only applied it to the first couple of inches of my hair.

If I were to only apply it to the first couple of inches of my hair, what would I put in the rest?

A lighter moisturizer...like a lotion type formula. I used to just do Hair Butter on the first few inches but by the time I combed my hair, it would have gone through the rest of my hair without overload. I would just apply leave-in conditioner to the length but you could also do a lotion-type moisturizer for the length.
